I can craft Perfect Star gems for Emeralds, Topaz, Amethyst and Ruby but the profit margin has gone down the drain except for emeralds.

IMHO, stay at Star level gems for value for money gems. Don't go anything beyond that. If you want to craft up till Perfect Star gems, it'll cost you at least 5.8 million.

Totally not worth it...
