Talking about crafting beyond star, which of the gem you guys think is worth the investment?

Emerald:
Pros - gives extra gold + critical damage is worth investment,
Cons - IMHO +dex is not worth.
Amethyst:
Pros - gives extra life% + LoH is worth investment,
Cons - IMHO +vit not worth
Ruby:
Pros - +Str, maybe +damage
Cons - experience, it is useless when we reach lvl 60.
Topaz:
Pros: MF%, maybe thorn
Cons: +int

my 2cents

Crit dmg is the highest source of dmg in the game among gems, hence emerald will stay on top for a long time, followed in close by amethyst.

Every other gems are worth less except for their maxed form, as true high end armors are ones with sockets, so ppl will be looking towards maxing their main attribute through chest/pants socket.

Im glad I grab 1k emeralds for about 1k each before the inflation.I think fs emeralds now worth 2-3k a piece?
Emerald price will go a bit more higher if gold loses to usd in the conversion rate tug o war(most probably will), since its about the only easy to sell gem on the RMAH.
Right now emerald price is still tied to gold.Dont be surprised once its tied to usd instead after this.

I judge from this investment of [insert number] millions in upgrading from star to radiant star:

Main stats:
A star gives main stats +46, whereby Radiant Star gives +58. IMHO it is not worth it for the extra +12 difference, as far as main stats is concern. Just use the money to AH better gear.

Weapon:
Weapon can only slot in 1 gem, so if we dual wield max is 2. Most of our choice will go for +100% crit (from 70%) or LoH 600 (from 300). +dmg loses out to the others. thorn is still ok as I've seen some thorn build that is quite nice. you stand there and attackers are auto take damage.

Helm:
+Life the best in end game but from 15% to 18% I might give up on this if my build had low health (3% of 30k health is only 900, meh~), +MF better than +GF in farming inferno but spent so much just to pump them up from 25% to 31% . +Exp is completely useless

+1 to what yuhhaur posted. some of the upgrades are just not worth it.

you can consider going for those super high end ones if your gear has already reach max limitation (can't find replacement from AH) and you really are desperate in maxing out the possible stats AND most of all, having the funds to spare.

For the rest of us, who don't have many millions - just go with gear purchase.

Now my gear also not many sockets. Have socket also not much gems to put because all upgraded to that 80,000 gold type. my Ruby and Topaz all ends at flawless square because I'm not willing to spend on it those that I don't use.

I got a total of 6 pcs of star. 3 emerald(1 crit, 2 dex), 2 Amethyst (1 LoH, 1 VIT) and 1 tpaz (MF)

my star are all emerald and amethyst. crit + dex + vit only.

Slowly preparing my main gear. Now I had about 6-7slots to fill in. (2 chest, 2 pant, 2 ring, 1helm) and I think my chest can be upgrade later. So I still need to craft some more gems.

hmm..i guess i just craft it for personal use better since no profit

If anyone needs topaz crafting, I can do all levels.

Also, I can do with some tips
