guys and gals...

as i planned to go on a frequent visit to my condo gym (started and ongoing for 2 weeks already), focusing more on 15 mins run each for 2 sessions and some upper body exercise and my gf is already on long term consistent gym going (mostly on treadmills and body combat)...and also we run one or two marathons a year....not full marathon...

i'm thinking we shud get some supplements...especially for joints and the "knee cap thingy"..as we are more focus on running...

any idea what to take? fish oil?

for now we are targetting to buy one bottle and share among us 2...and will go for one kind of supplement only now...

any advice?

The most common one will be Glucosamine/Condroitin, which you can get it from any pharmacy/fitness outlet. Though do take note that there are mixed comments/research on the effectiveness on such supplement on our joints. For natural ones, shellfish will provide you with those.

Are u guys >50? if u run correctly, joints shud not be painful, supplements are oso unnecessary. Google up about running posture and running efficiency. Running on treadmill doesn't hurt much compare to road.

hi....

nope..we are not 50s...we are both 28..

precisely why i want to consider supplement is because we don't want the constant running/pressure to affect our joint in a bad way and make us suffer during old age...

let's say it's just for precaution smile.gif

Fellas...I've got a dream/idea to run from my house ( jln midah 11 ) all the way to TARC ( Setapak ) and back...

I'll be following google maps suggested route, don't feel like running on the MRR2 highway...dangerous I think...

The suggested route goes through is the 'Jalan Cheras' 16.4km...The question I want to ask, is it safer to run in the Wee hours of the morning? or run at night?

I'd estimate I'd take around 4 hours like that...so, any suggestions??

Run during the rush hour. Chances of getting run over are higher then.

Saw this fella posted his story on fb LYNR for last week PNM .. kinda inspiring me .. Just wanted to share it out ..

QUOTE
Sorry for the bad grammar, not good in essay but feel like saying something to my LYNR family members. .. T^T

2 days after PNM was thinking about the moment of wanted to DNF @KM17 when side stitch happen and severe cramp attacking both my legs.
Giving up my hope and sat on the roadside while holding an ice pack on my legs waiting for Ambulance to arrive .

Suddenly my brain flashes someone's voices saying " We will wait for you at KM35 yea .. "
That moment reminded me of my fellow teammate is waiting for me at our LYNR aid station ..
I asked myself how can I be so selfish and how can I let you all down !! I wanted to meet you all !!
After awhile of self sport massage on both of my legs, I continue to fight on the pain toward KM35 ..
it was hard .. Real hard .. but I push myself beyond my limit ..
whereby my mind is overtook my body and kept both of my legs moving forward till I see K1 and I shout to him " I won't DNF !!"
After KM32 there is a U-turn where I saw (his friends) are slowly catching up .. While fighting over the pain on my way and notice far away on the road there's something catch my eye ..
"is that the blinking light put on by (his friends) ?? " I have made it so far and I have arrived at LYNR Aid Station ..
The moment I sat on the road side with cramp started to kick in harder than just now .. (his friends) quickly applied on ice gel on both of my legs and (his friends) was spraying the Salopas to ease the pain.
With handled over with ice cold Coke and raisin and I saw (his friends) and sat not far away from me, also suffering side stitch and Cramp but later he moved on
After 10mins of resting , I thanked everyone and move on ... After few KM and not far away seeing (his friends) started to walk partly of the side stitch happen at that time, was also accompanied by him we walk and run toward the finishing line with 4hours 29mins .. Finishing the toughest Full Marathon in my life ..

Here i would like to thanks (his friends) !!

Keep on Run"inspired" !!

u shud join a race one day n meet the veteran runners to tell running really doesn't really hurt ur joints if u run on proper posture.
best if u could run barefooted.

Hey guys, got the RM100 voucher for compression tights for Sports Direct from last PNM run.

Tried redeeming it at 1U outlet but they don't know jackshit about compression tights.

Anyone know which outlet has it? Gonna try using them in my first FM in PBIM next month.

oookay...running at night around my area is more dangerous for me than run on the sidewalk of the open road...banyak motor roam around my area, those 'people' memang...zzz

Anyway, I'd run from my place to Ampang LRT then back to 1Shamelin last night, was OkOk...run through the residential area...still not very safe IMHO...need a new path. I'd usually run to 1Shamelin's Gorgeous Fitness.
