QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Jun 30 2012, 10:51 PM)
the moment you start the engine, it is already "breaking in", only it is very very slow. Normally, breaking in has two different approach, one is soft and another is hard. Soft break in involves driving slowly (usually for the first 1,000km) at speed not exceeding 110-120kmh. Hard break in is the complete opposite of soft break in, usually stretches the car to its upmost limit for hardcore drivers. Both has its pros and cons.

However, both types of break in shares a same basic rule: Do not let the engine to stay on a specific rpm for too long. This is especially important for those taking their new car for a leisurely drive/outstation trip. It is important to vary the engine rpm throughout the entire journey.

How to break in? Just drive. To go below (soft break in) or beyond (hard break in) 120kph, that's your choice.

QUOTE(Pokeman @ Jun 30 2012, 11:06 PM)
simple word..'Lenjan' your engine to the max..

break in to keep our engine at the best performance, overlasting..and the engine very smooth to accelerate our desired speed..
give u example:
1. a new 100cc cub chai = once get the car, no break in, just drive like others cub... one day the rider ask why his cub only can go max 110kmh?

2. a new 100cc cub chai, same model with no.1 = 1st 1000km he control the speed below 80kmh..after 1st service, he do proper break in, and he realized that his engine very smooth and easy to get 135kmh even a standard 100cc cubchai...

for a car, by break in the engine, we allow and give A STEP TO STEP EXPERIENCE to the piston and engine to achieve maximum speed.. i dont say go for maximum 200kmh.. if got chance to get 160kmh for few minutes ok already..then slowly reduce the speed constantly...

maybe..one day someone claim he got maximum 240kmh with standard preve..  and when we ask them, they will said they do proper break in when their engine still virgin..  rclxms.gif

p/s : i can give u 18SX example for better understanding, but im respect silent reader here, maybe women, girl, is reading and learning how to be Turbowoman..ohhhh..hoho thumbup.gif

from the very first day you got your car.

If you do it after 1000km, you probably wont be getting the full benefits of doing hard break in from the beginning.
*
ok,thanks a lot..
btw,i think i've been doing hard break in rite now cool2.gif
last time savoc members advice for savvy better hard break in coz it's conti engine..they said for jap engine better soft break in..dunno true o not..any comment?

its up to personal preference. I dont like engine lembik, therefore I am a hard believer of hard break in.

i'm so going to break in harder later tongue.gif

QUOTE(Pokeman @ Jun 30 2012, 11:59 PM)
then, original Lancer vs Inspira standard incident at LPT story on previous month give the answer... when the Inspira later say bye bye to Lancer..

maybe Lancer soft brake in then Inspira already poison by Proton do hard break in... then we see who beat who.. cool2.gif

p/s: Fast & Furious mode, but seatbelt still must use one.. brows.gif

wat's the incident again btw?

hi guys,
today i send my car for 1st service..
my problems
1) overcranking twice within last week-suspected owv,if confirm, they'll order the owv and change it on another appointment
2)sound from left rear suspension/tyre when cornering/bumper-was told due to not properly tighten dog bone, already tighten
3)loose sd card lid-changed to new 1
4)front left speaker sound macam pecah-due to vibrating parts of left door upholstry
5)wind noise left c-pillar-was told due to gap somewhere in the front, will need some glueing, they'll do it
6)tyre misaligned to the left-have to do outside tyre shop
7)exhaust tilted to right-might need some hammering/can leave as it is
8)hu bluetooth microphone cant really hear-this 1 i forgot to highlight

for now,my car still in sc,they'll confirm the owv tomorrow..if can will return the car tomorrow..if not then monday la...

regarding the owv, actually, before the SA deliver my car, we also heard the overcranking during inspection..the SA even send back to SC to double confirm if it was owv, they said it's normal la during cold start..now they said almost confirm owv plak.. doh.gif doh.gif

will update what really improved later on..
btw,my CN is 6XXX..FC is good enuf,i can even achieve 6.2L/100km highway

Hi there, I have a few question here.

1) there are some rattling sound on the driver door panel. Are they able to solve it?-i think so
2) GPS on preve cfe. Any updates? I can't enter coordinate. And there's a lot of road which are unavailable.-see the latest firmware at the 1st page, most probably not yet
3) the double din touch screen Memang cannot play DVD?-cannot
4) boot lid self open. DIY or send it to proton.send sc,known issue
5) fan doesn't ON even at 1/2 temperature unless AC ON-this 1 i dunno
6) noisy radio. Other media ok.what do u mean noisey radio?poor reception?
7) over cranking sometimes during start up.send to sc,most probably owv problem
8) blinking LCD display. Any fixing???-somepne suggested not to set the brightness to auto, just set to night or day manually

Sorry for all the question above. But can anyone enlighten me????

Thanks and appreciated.
