QUOTE(DryCell @ Jul 13 2012, 09:54 AM) Can last 100k km but it is recommended to change every 60k even in the manual says that. Because after 60k the plugs would not function as good as now after those figure. You can ask them but you have to make sure they do it. Haha. If not you know lah they change Engine oil, oil filter and then done. Goto those small SCs that let you hang out at the service area, can chat with the workers while they servis your car. I buat at COE today coz the SC near my place tader fully syn oil....

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jul 13 2012, 04:19 PM) Unfortunately Proton Edar especially CoSE stock only Syn 1000 W50 for FS. If you want 40 or 30, only semi available. Thats why some ppl without the knowledge opt for the FS without realising the weight actually reduce the PICKUP quite noticeably. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « W50 is good for older cars where the piston wall bore gap has worn and gap are larger thus require thicker lube. Its also good for cars that run high speed with very hot engine and its good for extreme hot weather (Saudi, etc). For Preve and other newer proton, I doub't we'll ever need 50 weighted lube unless its old.
Even tho its FS, the lube is too thick for balance FC saving and pickup power, so for me, its not worth it to change to weight 50 FS coz the the car will USUALLY be heavier on pickup and does not help in FC in order to reduce 1 service.
oh btw 5W does not mean better startup. There is no difference in 0W, 5W and 10W as it is winter rating, sub zero temperature, so 10W will act the same as 5W in our morning startup. After reading this, I went to check my receipt again because I serviced my car at COE this morning as well. I told the SA I want fully syn Petronas 40 weight, she nod and say OK OK. TEW LOR, I just saw on my receipt, 15W-50 NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!This post has been edited by dares: Jul 13 2012, 04:30 PM

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Jul 13 2012, 04:34 PM) dafuq.. full sync still 5k service interval... I tell you, these jokers at COE.... 1st mistake - tell them I want 10w-40 fully syn, but service slip there tick "semi-syn", I spot it and tell them to correct it. 2nd mistake - my car 10k service, at the receipt there written 32,000km tell them to correct, waited another extra 15 minutes. 3rd mistake - 10w-40 my foot!!!!!!! QUOTE(stargate8 @ Jul 13 2012, 04:46 PM) to me 10W40 Syntium 800 is good enough...the rest just marketing gimmicks... heavy user still requires to service every 5k. I requested fully syn so that they will allow me to skip 15k servis Anyway, if you guys havent seen this, you'll be glad to know that COE has a dedicated "executive counter" for Preve only.
...Which is naturally duly unattended

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 13 2012, 06:38 PM) I know majority of people can't accept this fact but if you study the car manual very carefully, it clearly said the most suitable oil for CFE is Mineral 10W30. So unless the manual is printed wrongly or you think you are smarter than Lotus engineer, go ahead and use whatever you want. Bro I think there has been a misunderstanding somewhere I asked for 10w-40, the SC gave me 15w-50 without my knowledge, so it is the SC people who think they are smarter than the engineers, I'm just a frustrated recipient of their stupidity. Chill OK

QUOTE(rich8833 @ Jul 13 2012, 11:32 PM) True, I got a surprise this morning too. I never expected to be given 15w-50 engine oil for a brand new car. I did asked for a full syn oil but i thought they understood. I will monitor my FC and see how it goes , but seem my engine is more quite now. Lesson learn again , before you guys submitted your car for engine oil change, ask the SA if they really have the stock you requested. Otherwise I think my engine has became noisier Ask the SA also no use, like me, ask her nak full syn 10w-40 ya? OK OK OK Come home check the receipt, WTF 15w-50 Y U NO COME MEET ME AT COE TODAY!! saw many Preves there This post has been edited by dares: Jul 13 2012, 11:39 PM
