but Machines are full of not-so-polite sales team  doh.gif  Sick of their attitude towards customer, that's why I would rather buy online instead of walk in there, their service are below par imho

Different experience on mine. Saw my unboxing video? The guy even record the unboxing video for me for my MBP RD. What I learn from them is that they're human too. You treat them like humans, they be nice to you. Your day may just be fine and dandy, but their days are full of entertaining all kinds of customers, mostly the kind that expect so much from so little. Free gift, free service, etc. Some even expect them to be Apple Geniuses when are not. They are resellers. They are not Apple's entity. You want service from them, you either show a little bit of courtesy and help their bottom line by purchasing from them, and most of all, treat them as how you want them to be treated. I have no problems with the Machines guys in KLCC, Midvalley and Lot 10. I am especially close with the MacStudio folks, some I treated them like long term friends.

I was there at Machines KLCC during unboxing of my MBP RD, and I was appalled/disgusted as how much walk-in customers demand of them, while not even buying anything from their store. Try this, open that, look at this, demo/teach me that. But in the end, walk out and get nothing from the store.

In contrast, I have horrible experience buying from Apple Store online, where they treat me like I don't know anything, and give me scripted answers as if I am new or this is my first time buying a Mac. They can't even explain themselves how they couldn't secure any units for sale to online purchases when APRs like Machines and MacStudio are able to get them from Singapore, where Apple Store online is based of. I had a huge row with them, and DEMANDED my refund back, and THEN only they realized that they're not dealing with someone who they can push around easily.

IMHO.

I never had to enter phone number when calling Apple Store online. Only the order confirmation number, prefixed by the alphabet "W".

Hi stringfellow, I am referring to the online form to fill in when buying item online, the form has no cellular phone number to submit to online store  notworthy.gif

I doubt would it be hard when the deliver person ring to the phone number while no one is answering it.

My correspondence with them are all email. Yes, I entered my cellphone number, but they had never needed to call me, except during the refund process, when I pushed them for a more expeditious process. Then they'll call me.

A buddy of mine was whooping in joy in the middle walking through Pavilion when he got his shipping notification via email just a few minutes ago. He purchased him standard non-BTO high end MBP RD , around 12 hours after the Keynote.

He should be getting his on Friday. Probably had to stop the shipment in KLIA first for self pickup coz the order is shipping to Johor.

PVG and SHA is from China. PVG is three-letter IATA airport code for Shanghai Pudong. SHA is Shanghai Hongqiao. That's right next to each other so that parcel hasn't really moved much.

It's been sequestered by Apple. Meaning that amount has been set aside and can't be used, whether it's debit or credit card. Once shipment ships, THEN only Apple will take it in full. Happened to my previous online order. 14 days for full refund back from them.

8GB is more than enough for me.

11 tabs open in Safari, some with heavy Flash and animated content like The Verge and CNN, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Photoshop CS6, iPhoto, Aperture, Pages open and still only 4.47GB of RAM used, swap disk usage is ZERO.

16GB RAM IMO only if you plan to keep the MBP RD for more than the usual 3 year OS cycle (after 3 years, every Mac OS X new version will make the 3 year old Mac redundant with its system requirements). I upgrade yearly so 8GB is plenty for even the more intense of my current usage pattern.

Apple Malaysia/Singapore uses that as verification. Apple USA doesn't. In fact, I can online purchase anything from Apple Online store USA, and have it picked up at the closest Apple Store of my choice, even though my credit card is Malaysian.

Blame it on the inability of the subsidiary of Apple in this region for not moving beyond that for their verification. However, I was only called ONCE to verify my purchase, and since my record of purchase is tied to my iTunes account, they have me on record. Believe me, I'll be pissed as you are if I needed to be verified by phone call every time I make a purchase coz my work doesn't allow me the luxury of answering phone calls all the time.

My bank account amounts have not been deducted yet since I placed an order on Thursday morning (yesterday).

When does Apple usually charge us after placing an order?

QUOTE
When you place your order, Apple requests authorisation to charge the order amount from your credit card company. If you ordered more than one item, there may be multiple authorisations. Once we receive approval, Apple reserves the amount on your card until the items are available to ship. Your card will be charged when your order ships. If you ordered more than one item, there may be more multiple charges as items ship separately as they become available.

Their discretion. Item not fully assembled yet, it won't ship. When it comes to MBP RD, the low yield of the Retina Display screen is delaying the shipment. It is relatively harder to manufacture displays with such packed display pixels density at that size than normal displays.

Maybe that's why the delay is set 2,3,4 weeks, so that the shipped out stocks are updated with Mountain Lion.

One thing I like for getting my MBP RD early is that if anything happens, I still have the option to return back to Lion, should Mountain Lion ends up being a poorly optimized OS compared to Lion. Preinstalled units with Mountain Lion are probably stuck with Mountain Lion with no options to return to Lion, even if they opted to clean-install using Internet Recovery (Command-R).

Just like how the folks using Snow Leopard those days refusing to move to Lion because of Lion's supposed memory-hogging system resources.
