You could try download the new benchmark to test your PC: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/index.html
At native resolution and max setting, I've gotten fairly high score.

I'm interested in the new FFXIV:ARR. Need fresh air out of staled MMO environment :\

I know the FFXIV 1.0 is a copy-&-pasted China made of a mess, and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
I especially lol'ed at the 馬鳥.

I'm interested in the single toon, with multi-class (sp?) abilities. I'm tired of alting in an already casual MMO, thus I'm going for an even more casual MMO, presumably it allows me to.

With the on-going CB, then up-coming OB, I might as well take this chance to see it with my own eyes before I throw my money at the game.

So if a newbie wants to delve into ARR at launch, one would assume need to buy a boxed copy?
How much was version 1.0 sold (as a rough guesstimate to ARR would cost) and could recommend an online gameshop?

Closed Beta will never be a polished product. The NDA is there so that CB Testers do not blurb out the unpolished sides of their product lest give outsiders the wrong perceptions.

I fully blame the misconception of CB because of abuse by certain developers. These certain developers purposely allow unfiltered testers to pay their way in via pre-order's perk or small payment. This in turn skewed the perception that CB testers are testing "final polished" product, which is in reality is not.

If the developers can find unpaid testers who can play by just looking at programming codes without the graphic representation of the codes, I'm sure they'll be very happy to do that.

That said, I have the old Logitech Rumblepad 2, and my inbox is nary an e-mail from SE sad.gif

Anyone familiar or experienced pre-ordering with Play-Asia?
I checked US Amazon for ARR and they can e-mail token for early access before shipping the physical box.
QUOTE
Pre-order and Get Early Access and more
Pre-order Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and receive a token for early access to the game and digital in-game content including a Mog cap and minion pet. The token for early access will be emailed with instructions prior to early access opening. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. Limited to one per customer order.
Do Play-Asia provide the same service?

Btw, Amazon also selling digital copy for same retail price as SE's store.

3 more months huh? Will sure bore until then since I've already "divorced" with the current MMO.

I'm planning to pre-order a standard PC edition from Amazon and the box delivered by Borderlinx.
However I have a dilemma:
Borderlinx estimated to charge me about 30 USD.
Amazon would charge me only 20 USD for direct delivery, but as it pointed out here I can't use Malaysian address.
So if I'm sticking with Borderlinx, I can save cost by buy more stuffs from US, and have Borderlinx ship everything one-shot. Shipping cost could go between 10 to 15 USD per item. (Fyi, if you keep total value of merchandise and shipping under RM 500, you'll not be taxed.)
Then I should have early access code but without a box very soon, can I download from SE or FFXIV website?

Or I could just go with digital copy if it's too much hassle :/

Regarding picking which server:
Any JP servers. Chances are, obviously, there's more Asians playing in same timezone as me. Best bet too there could be Aussies, if they knew the existence of official or unofficial server.
I don't mind learning Japanese since I'm slowly learning them now wink.gif

NA servers are nice but our playing time is reverse of theirs. Whoever that could play in their NA mornings are most probably NEETs or kids :\

Currently downloading PC version.

One interesting fact I found out is that apparently Mi'qote is the master race. The furries are everywhere! Lol

Create Character first then once ur done it will ask which world to go to.. currently tonberry is under maintenance so come back another time
*
Wait... you mean characters are not bound to any world/server?
Or the character creation system is just weird in that way? Where typical MMOs let us choose server 1st then we create characters.

QUOTE(Leng Chai @ Jun 14 2013, 10:44 PM)
I dont think so. My friend received a beta key and ps3 promotion code. He used beta key for pc. I took his promotion code to download client on my ps3. The ps3 still ask for beta key, which i have none, my friend alrdy registered to his account. They intend for you to have ur pc and ps3 using same SQEX account, which is why onlty sending you one beta ket
*
So I only need to find promotion code to download the client for PS3. Wonder if there is any spare PS3 code lying around hmmm....
Why oh why, SQE and Sony so weird in their business modal :/

Nope. You still need beta key. After they download the launcher client. Will ask for your SQEX account and then beta key to download the game. For those who apply beta for PC and PS3 they send 1 beta key and 1 promo code PS3 and expect you use same SQEX account for PC and PS3 (link them).
*
I do have beta key because I originally applied for PC only, just that I have no means to download for PS3.

just a question...i'm seeing less skill than i really expected...from the action part i saw there is a Job category is grey out...can i know what is it inside? skill? also i found out that i can only use 1 skill at a time..the gcd is happening and make me cant use multiple skill at once

Not all games are same... if not everything end up as complete WoW clones.
Just so to have something to agree, combat feel slow since I'm spoiled by LotRO's Hunter class. I can basically pew pew an arrow in less than 1 sec.
Then I understood why SQE designed this way, because of gamepad inclusion. With gamepad, the control scheme is obviously different where you can't mash alot of buttons in 1 go as you would with keyboards.
I'm retiring from keyboard to gamepad now. I'm too godly for my own good that I suffering from RSI on my left wrist. I'll feel pain on my wrist just to hold down W to move forward continuously :/

I never liked auto-run.
Anyhow, I'm gamepading all the way now. I can walk or run easily whenever.
The downside with gamepad is that I can't quick tab and kill everything in least possible time, as when lotsa mobs FATE.
I still have keyboard near me, so I still use tab instead of using gamepad's directional buttons tongue.gif

PS: I'm Shotacon Unlimited in Tonberry.

Sure, not that I have any place to go to hehe

@Convael
Ahhh Sankaku Complex. Apparently the admin don't like FF too much lol
Negative feedback is good. What's not good if developer did nothing to make things better. We'll see to that when it's close to public release.

Regarding typical MMO questing... for my life of me I can't think of anything else that can replace age old quests other than sandbox open world, where players are the contents.

@shojikun
Ultimately, FF fans are FF fans because of the story. Since beginning, all games are just copycat of another.

FATE is fun for breaking up the same old quests grind. My one grip is when fighting lots of small mobs with lots of players, there's so many lights, flashes and sparkles I can't find where's my target lol.

Again about typical questing, quests will exist as long as character's need growth in the form of experience points. If you can eliminate EXP, players will need to look for riches as measurement of character's growth. Riches can come from PvE that is crafting and looting. This PvE can either be static or random. Riches must be first because greed is a powerful drive for conflicts. When there's conflicts, then there will be PvP to defend or take over.

This is just an example and I should stop here, lest this become very winding. Basically, it's game design concept that game developers can only do so much to attract certain players most of the time.

I wish SAO exist in real life tongue.gif

Btw. I hope you guys keep cool in PT while doing instances.  My mood have gone from good to bad when party member start cursing on me.  I hope everything will go well with you in the future.
*
1st I have ask what is PT and lastly why would ppl cursing???

I had a character in Adamantoise while waiting for Tonberry to open up. Players do lining up to the quest objective.

Earlier I stated I'll want to join JP servers but if Tonberry is an indication of Asians' prevailing behaviours, I'll have 2nd thought and rather join the Angmohs in NA servers. From my experience in LotRO's mostly Angmohs community, they are mostly very sopan, except a couple of trolls.

well... im not planning to be on Tonberry. If you have been following me really, i did say we're going Masamune when Phase 4 comes.

Don't worry about me because I know.
Anyway, Tonberry is the only 1st hand experience I have in this beta. The community in beta are not permanent too.
I hope Masamune is a pleasant place to be in wink.gif
