My oldest GP starting to shed fur till show skin only. At first I thought it was fighting or mites, but no bite marks and all the other GPs doesnt seem to be affected, so definitely not mites... I fear her time is near. sad.gif

Got a new pet store in Sungai Wang level 2, near the Yellow Exit. They seems to focus on small animals, such as hamsters, sugar gliders and guinea pigs. And their GPs are fat fat and a lot of rare breeds such as Coronet, Teddy and furless/hyppo pig. Price range from 250-300 for these rare breeds. Do check it out. smile.gif

Hello fellas, after a long time of inactivity I decided to close My GP Club page since its really inactive. I guess it makes much more sense for us have a group rather than a page.

On other note, I am opening a LYN GP Club group. Anyone from LYN is welcomed to join!

Most probably old age. She had shed most pf her fur until almost bald a few months ago. Thought she would die then, but she recovers and grow back her furs. Dint expect she to leave me now though. sad.gif

LAMB was the only male GP I ever had. This Rex breed has fathered 4 babies which was adopted by good families. RIP LAMB. You are special to me!

I remember when I bawak him jumpa Dr. Jenny for his first checkup, Dr. J was so smitten by him because he really does looks like a miniature lamb. She even take a few pictures using her phone because she likes his look a lot.

Really wasn't expected him to go today, especially since today is my fifth anniversary with my first sugar glider Teddy.

did he showed any signs? or was it just because of old age
*
Earlier this afternoon he was sitting, lying on his back a lot. So I tried to poke him and it works as he quickly runs around the cage the way GPs do when they are scared so I assume it was just him being lazy. Tonight when I wanna feed them he already died, but still warm. sad.gif

RIP Lamb =( maybe his time was near already...how the others doing? You have 4 left issit? all also about 4 yo liao oh?

3 left. Piper died last year. Also 4 years old at that time (she was my oldest GP).

I noticed the ones that died at 4 are the ones I bought from pet shops. I have 3 now. one 5 years old (Prue, homebreed) and two 4 years old (Phoebe and Paige, commercial breeder).

QUOTE(tiffanychan88 @ Mar 26 2013, 02:14 PM)
hi everyone! i'm new here...
thinking of having a guinea pig as a pet...
currently doing research and reading about gp to prepare myself.
i have a few questions though, i've tried asking in petshops but i'm not very satisfied with the answer given.

1. how much pellets should i give a gp a day? izzit ok to feed pellets in the morning and fruits/vege in the evening?
What I've been doing this 5 years. Pellet for morning. Hay/Veges for night.

2. i've seen petshops selling the metal ball thingy to put hay inside (for rabbits), can i use that for gp as well?
You can. I just put all on the floor of their cage.

3. can i toilet train my gp, as in only poo poo and pee pee at a certain corner in their cage?
You can, but not all will be fully trained.

4. about how much do i need to have a gp (comfortably) for the cage, bedding, toys, food, etc?
Good, absorbent bedding. I am using Woody wooden pellets. Some uses the recycled paper thingy. If you can change their bed every night I would suggest fleece covers as bedding.

5. any other advice for a new gp owner?
Make sure you aint allergic. I have 5 before I was aware they make me having rashes on my body (hands apparently immune, just my body) and sinus problems. But I still keep them.
