Semasa PTB, usaha telah dijalankan untuk mengembalikan ketenteraman, pemulihan ekonomi dan mengemas kini pentadbiran. Sarawak berada di bawah PTB sehingga 1 Julai 1946. Sarawak diserahkan kepada kerajaan British ... Ekoran bantahan tersebut, Pejabat Tanah Jajahan meminta Charles Vyner Brooke mendapatkan persetujuan penyerahan Sarawak secara perundangan dan demokrasi. Setelah bersidang selama tiga hari Mejlis Negeri meluluskan Rang Undang-Undang Penyerahan Sarawak atau Cession Bill dengan 18 undi menyokong penyerahan dan 16 undi menentang.
