xp32 bit will only show 3.25 gigs of ram out of a 4 gig ram(1 gig x 4), now we all know that.

but what would other programs installed in the win xp 32bit be showing??per say games.will it follow what the os is reporting(3.25) or will it follow the true amount we have put in the system??
*
application in a 32bit windows will not use memory above 2gb, while os only use around 1gb memory.

From my mobo's spec I see the following statement for the memory.

• Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600* (OC) DRAM, 16GB Max

Want to get more ram for my machine, but after searching from forum there's so many brand, which 1 is preferable ? I do OC abit but not much. Currently looking for 4GB x 2. 4G just not enuf for my usage now ;p

1 more question, I see RAMs nowadays have heat sink as well, are those really helpful ?
*
those heatsink is mainly for o/c cooling purpose.

Guys, anyone can share, what kind of RAM should I choose? Which brand is better? BTW, someone told me that better two different ram than 1 ram only.

I mean 2 pieces of RAM 2GB are better than 1 piece of RAM of 4 GB. Is it true? Or just a myth??? rclxub.gif

to make it as dual channel

Guys, help me choose. Looking for 16GB configuration:

a) Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) 1600MHz . 9-9-9-24  Link : http://goo.gl/vhaRQ

b) TWO PAIRS Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz. 8-8-8-24 Link: http://goo.gl/jMJG6

I want to get lower latency but b) doesn't come with 16GB kits. Need to buy 2 pairs. It is advisable for compatibility purpose? or I just settle with a) ? slower but won't worries me.

CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2GHz
Mobo: Abit M5A97 (4-DIMM)
Current RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 1333Mhz
*
better just go for g.skill lah, got 16gb kits
