apacer ddr ram or kingston ddr ram?which is more reliable?

If you really need a highest standard ddr ram, should looking for Original RAM, like Samsung Original, Hynix Original, Qimonda Original, Micron Original & etc...

Those original ram come with a label of origin (samsung, hynix, qimonda, micron & etc...) But hardly find those ram on retail market. Because they mostly supply to System Integrator like compaq, hp, dell, acer, toshiba, fujitsu, sony & etc...

Hmm, I was using 1GB + 256 MB ram before on Pentium M 1.6 wINDOWS xp. It was not enough for me. I am used to opening many many many firefox tabs and also using many addons. I also use a few programs at once, typically firefox, WMP, download manager, systmem utilities, MSN. It normally exceeded 1GB after a long session of surfing. So I changed to 2x 1Gb and the performance was obviously much better cause no need to use virtual memory anymore. But I noticed on more thing. Even when I have a few programs running, like 500-700MB of Ram used only, my computer was very much faster on 2x 1GB compared to 1Gb + 256 MB. I believe this is due to the utilization of dual channel tech when I am on 2 x 1GB. Dual channel be used when two pieces of RAM are of different capacities.
*
yes, agree to you too. If you got using those designer software like adobe photoshop, then you should go for 2GB. Because, I found that adobe product really need much ram to run it smoothly, after execute adobe photoshop, my system already eat-up 1532MB's memory (A4 size, 300dpi, psd file)

Hi all,

now i'm acer laptop using 2 x RAM card total 4gb, recently i found my laptop very slow..... i worry one of my Ram not function, how can i know both RAM are working?

i go to window task manager i found my physical memory usage history only 1.3gb ia mean that my RAM only run 1.3gb? maybe i'm wrong?? anyone can tell me how check my RAM?
*
1.3GB physical memory usage MEANS your laptop is currently USE-UP 1.3GB, so you still had 2.xGB empty capacity to use. It's a good sight, if you physical usage is >4GB (your actual capacity of ram inside laptop), then you will facing lagging problem causing by RAM (it's time to upgrade your RAM).

Understand ? blush.gif

hello....i wanted 2 buy a RAM i don't knw i should go with 4GB/2GB RAM...n which brand 2 choose....any advise?n what's de best price 4 a 2GB n 4GB RAM?
*
you should go for 2x2GB, not 1x4GB. 4GB DDR2 / DDR3 is extremely high price and not in mass production currrently.

guys need help here.
im using AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.21Ghz, HD5670 GDDR5 512MB,
and 2Gb DDR2 RAM 667.
im wondering is 2GB ram enough for performance and gaming ?
im planning to get another 2GB ram (combine to 4GB) to improve PC PERFORMANCE and GAMING.. can anyone let me know whether such improvements will be achieved, whether 2Gb ram is enough anot ...
*
it's depends on your software installation. You can go to "Task Manager" and see "Memory" usage in "Performance" tab, if the usage is nearly 2GB, then better upgrade to 4GB.

if you not sure about that, then just upgrade loh, since it wont harm to your PC. tongue.gif

i checked everyday .. when gaming it was like 1.70 - 1.80GB like tat ...
and everytime FINISH playing GTA4, the PC takes a lot of time (around 5 minutes) to recover back the memory and start working, I quit the game, and eveything lag lag lag, until minutes only SLOWly back to normal ~
*
if your system already "eat" 1.80GB, then you better upgrade with another 2GB for safe.

regards the recover time, please "Defrag" your HDD then see got improvement or not. and next time please take attention on "HDD" LED on your CPU casing, try to find out the Lag problem is it come from HDD itself.

u mean the 1.80GB is eaten by the system ? means it does not include the memory taken by the game as well ? wow, confuse ~

included memory taken by game, as you mentioned "when gaming it was like 1.70 - 1.80GB like tat"

Windows 7 is surely support DDR2-800 RAM. Actually, mother board is the main issue for supporting DDR2-667 / 800 / 1066, you should check your mother board instead of OS. smile.gif

A bit strange to see you use 2 different size for the DDR3 ram...

Dunno if yr laptop hv 3 slots or not but most Intel i7 mobo comes with 3 slots or 6 slots for Three Channels of memory bandwidth...

Pls hv a look at the article below...

http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/15967
Use CPUID to check the memory channels the system is currently using...
*
That is very common that people mixing different capacity of RAM into their laptop or desktop, not strange. nod.gif

May be I'm frog in well, I didnt see there got notebook which provided more than 2 slot of memory module blink.gif Please correct me if you found notebook that can equiped with more than 2 memory slot nod.gif

Your i7 is desktop mother board, not notebook mother board, it's totally different story which yours one is running on triple channel blush.gif

I am trying to upgrade the RAM on my Toshiba NB305-A102. I was told by Toshiba service center that it requires an 8-chip DDR3 RAM. I looked around but most 2GB DDR3 RAM are of 16-chips. Anyone has any ideas on this?
*
Dont believe to what their said. You can upgrade it with 16chips 2GB DDR3. As in market nowadays, 1GB DDR3 is normally come with 8chips, 2GB DDR3 is come with 16chips. If 2GB DDR3 that come with 8Chips that mean it's consider High Density IC. If yours notebook can accept such High Density IC, then it wouldn't be any problem to stick back with low density IC (which is 16Chips).

If yours notebook able to compatible with 2GB DDR3 that come with 8 chips, then congrate that be sure this notebook can equiped with single 4GB DDR3. (But I dont think so Intel NM10 chipset able to support high density RAM blush.gif )

Appreciate your answer. Problem is I've tried with Kingston 2GB DDR3 with 16 chips and it did not work. The screen was just blank and would not boot up.

It is this model -- KTT1066D3S/2G ?

Do you try update BIOS before?

Using Core 2 DUO 6750 (2.66GHz), OS XP SP3 & 2x1GB RAM (run dual channels). Play games (FPS, RPG... ), surfing, watch movie etc. Thinking to add 2 more 1GB RAM, since nowadays price quite cheap so my system will have 4GB RAM. I believe 4GB RAM is a standard rig in 3-4 years from now on and modern games become more demanding especially in RAM beside CPU and GF card. Do you think this worth it?
*
Market is now moving into DDR3 already. So, adding another 2GB DDR2 would be a waste unleast you will still using your PC for another 2 or 3 years. smile.gif

sorry for asking but not in the know-how......is it possible for us to change DDR2 ram to DDR3  ram in our PC ram slots and still the PC can be operational?
*
Even DDR2 & DDR3 are both 240pin, but it cant slot in DDR3 PC ram into DDR2 slot, it couldnt fit !

And it's voltage are different -- DDR2: 1.8V but DDR3: 1.5V

slot in DDR3 PC ram into DDR2 slot will cause burning due to over voltage.

You can change to Intel G41 chipset mother board (Asus / Asrock) that this kind of mother board can got 2xDDR2 + 2xDDR3 slot
