i am thinking want to get gskill ram, however, realized there are 2 type of latency.
because 3600mhz so many option and confusing, so i decide get 3200 instead.
i am using b450 aorus m mobo.

Trident Z Neo DDR4-3200MHz CL14-14-14-34 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB)
Trident Z Neo DDR4-3200MHz CL16-18-18-38 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB)

Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600MHz CL14-15-15-35 1.40V 16GB (2x8GB)
Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600MHz CL16-16-16-36 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB)
Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600MHz CL16-19-19-39 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB)
Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600MHz CL18-22-22-42 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB)

get the lowest possible timings (CAS Latency a.k.a. CL as you've seen in the names).
share if you do find one with lower timings icon_idea.gif because low latency RAM is scarce in malaysia. malaysian sellers usually get their hands on the worst possible timings.

3200mhz only have Cl16  shakehead.gif
what you say is true. its feels like not really worth get 3600, as all those timing are really bad.  if want to OC, does it matter to use high timing which we can change its timing later on?
for example.. 3600mhz, Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600MHz CL18-22-22-42 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB)
enable xmp profile, then change it to CL14-15-15-35 with 1.5v ?
*
there's a very high chance the CL18 variant will fail even trying to OC to 16-16-16-36. failing means that it fails to fully boot.

follow up: i've managed to find and bought 3600MHz CL16-16-16-36 RAMs locally after almost 4 months. bought 2 sets, that makes it 4x8GB...and now I hope it runs fine on my system without issue because it's very expensive and I'm not so sure if the CPU can properly handle 4 sticks of RAM...

Quick question...do we need higher ram clock speed though CPU support up to certain speed only?
*
not sure what you mean..

if talking about necessity, you are not required to have faster RAM speed.
if talking about possibility, you can pair a faster RAM than the speed CPU claims to natively support up to.

more details about native support vs higher RAM speed a.k.a. OC-ed RAM: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/rel...-speed.3524495/

Any1 using Trident Z Neo here?Need to know where exactly serial number on the RAM box?Coz got 2 line of numbers there...  icon_question.gif

P/S Without removing RAM from PC to check...  tongue.gif

what do u need the serial number for?

each ram stick has its own serial number..and also can be found from the box
there will be 2 barcodes, the numbers below each barcodes are the serial numbers (not EAN or UPC, those are product codes)
