recently been thinking wanna upgrade ram for laptop
currently is a setup of 2x8gb
how would it affect laptop if change to 8gb + 16gb?
any bad effects on cpu or mobo?

If you are on an AMD setup, you'll lose dual channel memory and thus you may end up losing a fair amount of CPU performance icon_idea.gif

Now on 16GB ram . Running flight simulator 2020 at high settings getting around 40-50fps. But got microstutters

Wondering if upgrade to 32GB will solve the issue?

Current ram is dual channel 3200mhz

Possible, but do note that FS2020 is very punishing on the CPU (even a heavily overclocked 10900K can't run this smoothly) icon_idea.gif

The game seems to have an issue pertaining to CPU utilization, due to the old DX11 API used sweat.gif

But in task manager, cpu utilization is only 20%. Ryzen 5 3600

GPU utilization at 99%

Just wondering if increase ram will help reduce the stutters.

Overall, the game is very playable now. Just since ram prices have dropped alot so might be tempted to upgrade.lol

hmm.gif That's interesting, as a German website (PCGH.de) seems to have ran into a severe CPU bottleneck

Also I think Hardware Unboxed also ran into an issue where 16GB may not be enough for this game hmm.gif

it's a laptop with i7 9th gen cpu
not AMD setup

Then it's perfectly fine to move to a 8+16GB setup icon_idea.gif

8+16gb setup wont hv any issue on gaming also right?
will it impose any stress on the mobo or cpu or even the RAM card itself?
i mostly playing Cities Skylines which need damn lots of RAM for all the workshop items to load in-game

No problem, as single channel memory usually don't impact Intel platforms too much, unless you are talking about the desktop 10th gen CPUs (desktop Comet Lake) icon_idea.gif

Intel 10th gen huge performance differences between dual channel & single channel?

Yup:

...in fact you need a Z490 board just to make use of faster memory icon_idea.gif
