Just got my BL12864AL1065.16FD3 1GB x 2.

Should I remove the heatsink to look over the memory chip?

btw it is PC2-8500 DDR1066 CL5 double-sided.

You have to make sure that the heatsink is not stuck by gum onto the ram chip or you will damage it.

Just got my Crucial back from warranty and i wonder, does looking in between the heatspreader allow me to judge whether its single sided or double sided? Cause i heard alot people mentioning about warrantied Crucial Ram will come back as single sided. But if i look at the chipset, it does look to still be double sided though smile.gif

There are clips on D9Gxx ram,ram hs clip and usually,D9Gxx Crucial have off center heatspreader biggrin.gif
Another way:Check your code,something like 16fdx=D9Gxx

Dont think the newer models from Crucial have ram clips though. At least not on both my Crucial, before and after warranty. Anyway, thanks for the tip on the code. Will check it out tonight.

Ok, I do slightly open the heatsink from side, still the rest gum with heatsink there, can saw the memory chip, but only saw YPJX at bottom & -I8F (or -18F) at right side of memory chip, the middle cover by the "Ballistix" logo, cant see any FBGA code of D9Gxx there. sweat.gif

ok, let's say i know about the bandwidth doubling when running in dual channel mode,

but my question now is, would it be significant in performance for a p4 system to run in dual channel mode?

my specs would be a p4 2.4ghz, 800mhz dd2 2gb dual-kit and 8600gt gpu.

all your answers would help me alot cuz i need to buy a mobo before cny.

please,

and thanks!

1 silly question, if i buy kingston value ram DDR-800 CL5, and OCZ DDR-800 CL5 also, no going to Overclock or tune the CL, the speed is running same ? or OCZ will faster ?

and compare CL4 and CL5 , how much % different ?

for your first question, lets say both brands of rams do have same settings, volts and timings; and since ure not going to oc, they both will be the same.

well just my 2cents, in my experience at the same frequency, cl4 anc cl5 difference isnt really big. unless u want to talk about benchmarks, but i dont think the differrence would be very great to you to even notice it on normal usage.

wanna ask, what voltages do normal rams run in? coz i see performance rams some running at 1.8v, 2.0v, etc. if i get a pair of performance rams, do i need to set the voltage in my bios or is it auto detected?

Do you mean where the ram(s) located or where you can buy the ram?

By the way, I just checked the spec at http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/245...ario_m2000.html.

Your model uses a DDR333 So-DIMM ram. You can get a DDR400 SO-DIMM ram for your laptop but not DDR2 ram. You can check it out at garage sales. I expect the price of such rams to be around RM100. DDR1 rams are obsolete now especially the SO-DIMM type.

I am using Kingston 2GB DDR2 667MHz for my laptop right now. I am planning to upgrade my ram.

How can i maximize the dual channel performance??buy another 2GB DDR2 667MHz??
If 1GB DDR2 667MHz still can perform dual channel??
