ECS 945P-A Mobo,
currently running on 1GB 533mhz on 2 slots,
can i add another 1GB 667mhz on another slot?
will the 667 then run on 533mhz instead?

i've got no problem with 4gb with win xp sp3 32 bit. Maybe it's the incompatibility with the mobo. Picky mobo will chose not to boot with certain RAM.

hi to all sifus,

im planning to change to vista 64 bit. so i would like recommendation or opinions or suggestions regarding my rams. [desperate unsure.gif ]

currently im running on 2x1GB of a-data 6400, 5-5-5-18 value rams (dual channel). should i consider getting another 2x1gb or 2x2gb. how much rams is enough for vista 64bit? my comp is normally used for gaming. since im doing mild oc i think 800mhz should be sufficient enough for me (intel e6750 oced to 3.2ghz; multiplier 400x8; fsb:ram = 1:1)

what would be more upgrade wise? more rams? or tighter timing rams? same modules? different modules? different timings? different clocks? different voltages etc. my friend tested rams at same frequency with different ram latency timings; 800mhz at 4-4-4-12 and 800mhz at 5-5-5-15, there isnt much differences in normal applications. benchmarks shows a slight increase in memory performance. so the problem now is what should i consider?

should i get the same module as my previous rams? (but there's no one selling adata value rams in garage sales thread!)
or
get different modules with different memory chips but same timings, (eg: other type of value rams at 800mhz 5-5-5-18)

get peformance rams at 800mhz but with tighter timings and downclock them, (eg: 4-4-4-12 but downclock to 5-5-5-18)

get 2x2gb so my comp would be running with one pair of 2gb and one pair of 1gb; adds up to 6gb. (but then i'll have to consider problems like timings and all)

stick to just new pairs of performance ram?

or???

couldnt make a decision here. can any of you sifus help me with this? which setup would be ok to me? note that im not a benchmark freak and i wouldnt mind a few marks drop. but which setup or configuration would be performance wise for me? and future wise too, seeing the fact that new OS is coming out next year too, which they claimed to utilize less ram.

to sum it up, should i use:
2x2gb and 1x1gb
4x1gb
2x2gb
or something else?

then, what bout the ram frequency and timings? here's my current rig's detail

silverstone st56f
intel e6750 400x8 @ 3.2ghz
2x1gb ddr2 a-data 800mhz 5-5-5-18 ram
gigabyte p35 ds3

many many many thanks in advance! currently very desperate to change os but undecided how or which shoould i upgrade my rams cry.gif
