hi to all.. add me Pebble Blue 16GB ..
Guys,
I'm facing a rooting issue.
- previously succeed in rooting my S3 by following Chain Fire rooting process - then I update to latest firmware via Kies PC without unroot my S3 - after successfully updated to latest firmware, expected..lost my root - now trying to re-root by following Chain Fire rooting process as per below
*copy & paste - Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch! - Unzip the attached Odin3-vX.X.zip file - Download and unzip the CF-Root-SGS3-vX.X.zip file (see posts below this one) - If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar file - don't extract that one - (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer - Start Odin3-vX.X.exe (am using Odin3-v1.85) - Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-SGS3-vX.X.tar (am using CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.2.tar) - Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold volume-down + home + power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command) - (USB) Connect the phone to your computer - Make sure Repartition is NOT checked - Click the Start button - Wait for Android to boot - Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
but now, whenever I clicked on the Start Button, after more than 30 seconds, the Odin will show the word Failed.
Am I missing something? Is it due to this rooting process aren't compatible with the latest firmware?

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Jun 25 2012, 05:09 PM) did you installed samsung driver ? furthermore, once you connect your phone, the odin got show something ?? above those tick box (auto reboot, bla bla bla) download any battery widget app from play store QUOTE(ranc79 @ Jun 25 2012, 05:16 PM) i was update using OTA last night and straight go and root again .. no problem at all... when you go into the download mode and connect your phone to the pc.. the odin show the green colour and stated com port number or not? suspect driver problem.. Once phone is connected, in Odin under ID:COM it shows 0:[COM25] with Yellow color background. How to check whether Samsung driver is installed and vice versa? Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to learn few things on android. This post has been edited by etap: Jun 25 2012, 05:18 PM

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Jun 25 2012, 05:14 PM) I am wonder whether Samsung break the rooting using this method or not, it happen before in my previous S2-G where need downgrade to older firmware version before root using Odin actually work. That why I always encourage user, once you already in root, update firmware via Mobile Odin Pro only, as it can pre-root. Don't use PC Odin and don't use Kies. Just download the complete firmware from sammobile, I know it is big but it reduce all hassle that you probably face now. I guess this should be my last option. By the way, Mobile Odin Pro is a paid apps, correct? This post has been edited by etap: Jun 25 2012, 05:21 PM
