asus called it usb charge. only 1 port has it which is at the right side with the thunder icon. u can charge ur mp3 or other device while ur lapy is off/sleep/hibernate o wat ever cond. it will drain ur g55 batt if u do not plug in the power cable.

oh ya.. regarding ssd.. google is your best friend most of the time..  make sure the ssd you are buying works with the laptop..

like my corsair force 3 120gb sata iii, it didnt like the ASUS N53SN or the A43SV that i have.. keep on blue screen randomly (confirm not other hardware problem because works properly with normal HDD)..

juz sharing my experience..
*
the best part i like the most.. googling =.=..

i guess i have to do the trial and error process.. which SSD G55 likes the most.. lol maybe the kingston SSD?

Well.. it's kinda easy.. just open the back part.. the one that contains HDD + RAms.. i'm very sure u wont screw up on that smile.gif except u;re going for the non-user accessible slots.. then u might wanna be careful smile.gif

ssd is a waste of money at the moment..in another 6 to 7 months, intel is going to introduce thunderbolt/sata IV ssd..and this ssd that we r talking about the price will reduce drastically
*
price drop also.. i don't think it will be so drastic.. coz look at HDD.. yes price drop.. but that takes quite sometimes.. and until SSD is introduced.. but still HDD price not so cheap.. (well way cheaper from 1 - 2 years back)

Does anyone going to consider this??

Solid State Hybrid Drive

HDD+SSD  XD
*
hybrid + ssd = not bad for cheap + bigger size.. but.. still slower than pure SSD.. imho

G55 is your best companion now..  icon_rolleyes.gif  its not the end of the world la

btw, keyboard lighting keep failing.. now fn key is not functioning.. have to reboot each time.. other fn keys stil ok doh.gif
*
i think soon i will have to clean format.. and install fresh windows.. not the one from Asus doh.gif

then only install important stuff.. usually after doing this... most laptop seems to be in good condition..

but then.. i will wait for my SSD =.=... SSD oh SSD .. when do i have the money to buy u

Lol my bad.

Computerworld - If you want to speed up your PC but don't want to deal with a new hybrid hard drive, one way is to simply add an SSD cache drive to your PC. These drives aren't meant to be mass storage devices; instead, they cache your most frequent application operations and thereby improve performance.

But yeah I am contemplating between SSD mSATA and a fullblown SSD SATA. Hmmm.
*
seems like SSD + caddy HDD is more likely.. i just hate the idea of tearing apart the G55 . although if i am to do it.. that would be take out stock rams, IC Diamond Thermal paste and mSATA...

but then again it's all about $$ and time =.=

Hi,guys..
Do we get a completely clean Windows Home Premium without bloatwares when restoring via back-up of Ai recovery?
*
what do u mean completely clean window.. it's a fresh window when u get it first.. or do u mean it's free dos.. lol

ah now i get it... well every W7 from Asus will come along with those bloatware.. doesn't matter which laptop u buy..as long as it is loaded with Asus W7 copy

So those bloatwares will still be restored from those dvds that i previously back-up with ai recovery?or is it just the windows 7 system files without asus bloatwares?
*
it's a complete set.. thats why it's a 5 DvD Ai recovery.. Windows 7 is only 4 gb when compressed.. smile.gif
