Dead Space 1/2 sold well and made tons of money no? Why the need to change the formula? Too much marketing?

Maybe I should make a thread about The Fall of EA and "DLCs". That would welcome a lot of haters.

QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Jun 20 2012, 10:36 PM) now where did this come from? I have something in my mind though, something more towards releasing DLC and player expereince. Yeap, IGN licking EA butt again. I wonder how 2K, Rockstar, Square Enix, Paradox and so on survive without ruining every franchise to a generic cover shooter, having tonnes of expensive DLCs, make money sink free to play games ($65 virtual car, anyone?), made shitty Origin and lastly, saying cheap sales is making your IP cheap. btw, i found this today: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/14/why-do-people-hate-ea Isnt it the same site that says that we should not be entitled gamers? I'll be entitled as much as i want because i bought a product and the product should be as enjoyable as it should be. Not the generic boring shooter that i am getting from EA games. Why dont i hate Activision Blizzard, as much as EA? Because Activision Blizzard do not destroy their franchise as bad as EA did. Why dont i hate Ubisoft? Because they still have the balls to come out with something fairly interesting, ie: Watch Dogs, the whole Assasin's Creed, Driver, Far Cry, without making all of them a boring generic shooter. Why dont i hate Valve? Because they make stuff that really works 99.9% of the time, like Steam and really polished, well supported games. Why dont i hate 2K? Because they value their own IP, without making terrible annual iterations or turn them into free to play zombies. No doubt hating Diablo 3 is the hate flavour of the month, but i think EA is still getting the most hate because of their lovely business practise that do not promote brand loyalty. Making sweeping changes to your game's sequels will not help you to keep your customers loyal to your brand. No way i am getting Dead Space 3 in anyway, it doesnt even look like the first 2 games. I feel co-op isn't really to create experience. Its just so that people buy 2 copies of it just to play together lol.
Survival horror with co-op usually ain't scary anymore. COZ YOU CAN HAS A FWEN. I bet its gonna be Origin only, so I'm proud to pirate it later. Lol. This post has been edited by Katsuke: Jun 21 2012, 02:57 AM |

Doors open and you see your buddy. Predictable? Maybe. |

I have completed DS 1 three times which show how much I enjoy the first game for its rich horror atmosphere (trapped in a dead spaceship with no communication with outside and hunted by unknown origin monster = survival horror) and story (desperate attempt to escape from the spaceship, the tension between Hammond and Kendra, finding Nicole, madman scientist and priest, insane survivors = drama)
I'm now playing DS 2 around chapter 10 but I find myself getting really bored. I'm like keep repeating the same tactic of cutting off the same necromorphs limbs over and over. Story-wise is not as intense as the first game and without that fear factor anymore now that we know what we are dealing with. The other npcs doesn't seem memorable to me. At the moment, I'm not too hyped to play DS 3 unless they really offer something new in gameplay style. More variety in monsters with different tactics beyond just cutting off their limbs? Different weapons for different monsters type so I will actually buy and use different guns besides my plasma cutter and assault rifle? More drama and tension between npcs. More fear factor with interesting mini-bosses too hopefully. |

ds1 is great because the team trying to convince EA with an somewhat original good game and get it published, in return get money frm EA to build their own studio. ds2 somewhat ok, got influenced by ironman. maybe it was spoilt by too much emphasize on multiplayer. ds3, seem to be going through whatever ip/game that's under EA.

QUOTE Dead Space 3 Is Way Better With A Friend, Surprisingly The answering machine goes off. It's Ellie, trying to get a hold of Isaac Clarke. He doesn't answer. He's standing in a disheveled apartment located on a lunar colony, but it's not your typical bachelor pad type mess. It's dark, it's grimy, it's gross—it looks as if this is a cave, a personal hell which he has retreated to perhaps. As you muse over this, sergeant John Carver—the character your co-op buddies will play—bursts into your apartment, demanding to know if in fact you are the famous Isaac Clarke. Carver and his acquaintance Robert Norton need your help in Dead Space 3. Guess what, the predicament involves a damsel in distress (Ellie, from the previous games) and it involves Markers—which is to say, it probably involves the horrific, reanimated corpses of the dead (otherwise known as necromorphs.) Great! Isaac wants nothing to do with Markers after the events of the first two games, but this involves Ellie, so he begrudgingly agrees to help. Naturally things have to get even crazier at this point, so this is where the overzealous Unitologists—the people who have formed a religion around the Markers—come in. Guns blazing, the Unitologists set out to look for you. The Unitologists are out to kill you, wouldn't you know it. This is how the game sets up one of the initial levels in Dead Space 3, which I experienced earlier this month. It's also where I discovered rolling and taking cover. Like most well-implemented rolling mechanics, it's a joy to move across levels entirely through rolling, but I can't say I ever used cover again outside this initial chapter in the ~3 hours that I played Dead Space 3. My first time going through, I didn't feel there was much that was notable Chapter 1 beyond the lunar colony having a similar look and feel to that of Mass Effect's cities. You'll also come face to face with the man that I assume is the leader of the Unitologists, a silver-tongued charismatic fellow that tells you all about his sinister plot with the Markers. He intends this information to be the last thing you experience before death. He doesn't manage to actually kill you, of course; you narrowly get away. Ellie? Eh, I didn't really care. But she's there, if that interests you! But this continues the larger narrative in Dead Space, which addresses the role of the Markers and necromorphs in society—and, admittedly, was much of the reason that I kept going forward in the preview. Ellie? Eh, I didn't really care. But she's there, if that interests you! I was new to Dead Space, you see—there wasn't much about the previous games that captured my interest. I'd initially avoided Dead Space because I'm not much for scary or tense games. When it was clear that I was going to preview Dead Space 3 I tried looking up the science of the jump scare—which I heard Dead Space was full of—to try to soften the blow. If fear stems from the unknown, then knowledge helps, right? Haha, yeah okay, like Wikipedia pages were about to lessen the terror of WELL TIMED LOUD SOUNDS and NECROMORPH BURSTING INTO THE FRAME UNEXPECTEDLY. Making things 'worse,' Dead Space 3 likes to give put you in tight spaces without too much room to maneuver. Even if you see the necromorphs ahead of time, it's likely you'll often find yourself nervously backpeddling while trying to reload, necromorph viciously trying to swipe at you. Hopefully you don't get backed into a corner! This is where rolling comes in handy. Personally, I found myself frustrated at the difficulty on normal, especially later in the preview when juggling one of the game's 'puzzles' (if you would even call them that) with necromorph waves. I died more than I felt I should have. But with a buddy? Things felt much smoother, much more fun—though admittedly I felt jealous that Carver had the cooler black and red suit. Grr. Ah well, it's probably appropriate. It seems that you and Carver will have a complicated relationship thanks to how harsh Carver is. When you apologize for something, he angrily tells you to try harder next time for instance. Anyway, there is a bit less tension when you know a friend will have your back with a pesky necromorph, and it wasn't uncommon to double-team enemies. One person suspends the necromorph, and the other rips it apart sort of deal. Co-op presents a wonderful opportunity for more nuanced tactics, and Dead Space 3 isn't any less engaging when you cut some of the anxiety out. The game remains just as chunky and visceral as it has in the past. It was through co-op that I also learned how much Dead Space 3 rewards exploration. My buddy liked to go off and meticulously search through the levels for artifacts. Sometimes, this will mean taking a closer look at a seemingly empty room that's right along the way. Sometimes, it'll mean going deep into space while navigating outside of a ship. Sometimes, it'll mean shooting down something in the background that doesn't seem as if it holds anything—like maybe a deer head. I was impressed. Not all the things you'll find are artifacts. Some of it will be materials for crafting. New to Dead Space 3 are moddable weapons, allowing you to have tools with more than one function. You have the ability to modify a weapon's upper tool, lower tool, frame, tip and attachments, allowing for variances in damage, reload, clip size, shooting speed, as well as bullet effect (exploding rounds, for instance.) Isaac is an engineer, right? He's smart and uses his intellect to solve problems, yes? Crafting is justifiable by the story, then. While I didn't find too much to tinker with, my co-op buddy seemed to find all sorts of materials and his weapon looked intimidating, beastly and effective. Isaac is an engineer, right? He's smart and uses his intellect to solve problems, yes? Also included are side-missions and optional objectives. Toward the end of my preview, for instance, I had a choice between two locations depending on which mission I wanted to take up. Unfortunately the demo ended right there, but it's obvious that Dead Space 3 is incorporating modern design elements that all games have to have nowadays like Choice and Customization and Social Play. I swear that I find it difficult to tell if these things actually improve an experience rather than giving us stuff to cross off a universal games checklist. However, I can concretely say that Dead Space 3 felt much better with a friend than it did playing alone, though I was sad to see little of Carver's supposed compelling storyline. Alas! Dead Space 3 releases on February 5th in North America, and February 8th in Europe. Source: Kotaku |

Dead Space 3 includes micro-transactions for buying better weapons
QUOTE Dead Space 3 includes micro-transactions as part of its weapon crafting system, Eurogamer can reveal. We spotted mention of "downloadable content" during a recent hands-on play session with the game. The message pops up when you don't have enough resources to piece together the beefy new weapon you're after. It states: "Cannot craft. Additional resources required." These resources (materials, scrap parts and the like) can be picked up by the player, picked up by scavenger bots you send out, or alternatively bought through a quick purchase from the in-game store. "You can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the marketplace," Dead Space 3 associate producer Yara Khoury explained to Eurogamer. "So you don't have to spend [real world] dollars." Khoury was unable to say how much the micro-transactions would cost, but she referred to several different packs of in-game currency being available, priced varying amounts. But even with a bank balance full of money, developer Visceral Games has made sure you can't boost your way to the best weapons at the very beginning of the game. "No you can't!" Khoury replied at the suggestion I'd be able to splurge my money as soon as possible in exchange for the game's biggest gun. "There are a lot of weapon parts that are only available to buy later in the game. Unless you're playing through it again [on New Game Plus]." Dead Space 3 is the first game in the series to include micro-transactions. The payment system popped up last year in fellow EA-published title Mass Effect 3, too, allowing you to quickly buy reinforcement packs for the game's multiplayer portion. Ubisoft-published Assassin's Creed 3 included a similar system for that game's multiplayer. Sos tiram ![]() |

![]() QUOTE Visceral Games admits Dead Space 3 for PC will be a straight port Dead Space 3 for PC will be a meat and potatoes port of its console equivalents, it has been confirmed. According to games.on.net, that means there will be no DirectX 11 support and no fancier textures, so if you were hoping to push your top-of-the-line gaming PC to its limits with a copy of Dead Space 3, well then… you probably can’t. The news follows reports yesterday that EA will introduce optional microtransactions in the Dead Space 3 campaign, meaning that you’ll be able to buy in-game resources for weapons upgrades with real world money. QUOTE Amazon offers $20 credit on select EA pre-orders including Dead Space 3, Crysis 3 We've seen the Amazon $20 pre-order credit deal pop up a bit in recent times, and here it is again on four upcoming Electronic Arts games. If you pre-order one of Dead Space 3, SimCity, Crysis 3, or Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, you get a code for $20 credit towards future purchases. Yes, that credit's tied to Amazon, regardless it ain't to be sniffed at. There are other pre-order bonuses tied to some of these games, such as the Limited Edition goodies and Amazon-exclusive Enervator gun for Dead Space 3. The SimCity pre-order gets you access to its Limited Edition as well as the beta, which runs this weekend. Crysis 3 bundles in the original Crysis, and Amazon's exclusive is the Brawler Pack. Source: Joystiq To those who are planning to buy the game, do preorder from Amazon as you will get a bonus $20 credit for future use. |

Dear pc owners,
QUOTE Dead Space 3's PC port will not have DirectX 11 support or HD textures, according to reports, to which developer Visceral Games says, so what? http://www.destructoid.com/dead-space-3-pc...cy-243420.phtml"We continue to evolve our games as we develop them, but we certainly don't target PC as something that's going to be significantly different," executive producer Steve Papoutsis said in an interview with Shack News. [/b]"We aren't trying to create disparity in the experience that our gamers enjoy; we want to make sure everyone's having that same experience."[/b] In the interview, Papoutsis takes a very literal stance on consistency across platforms. Where as platform owners think of consistency as "the best my platform can offer," Papoutsis interprets it as "an identical experience across platforms, even if that means one performing below its potential" (my words, not his). Remember when EA said Dead Space 2 wouldn't receive DLC on PC (so much for consistency), and how they changed their tune after PC owners spoke up? Make some noise and maybe EA and Visceral will give Dead Space 3 all the perks expected of PC ports in a post-Sleeping Dogs and Max Payne 3 world. "The fact that we're allowing you to control the game with a mouse and keyboard immediately makes the game feel different," Papoutsis said, adding "We seem a little bit discredited for the amount of effort that goes into it, quite honestly." Mouse and keyboard controls? Gee, thanks! Enjoy your top quality console port EA lovers |

Wow, i do felt a bit discredited when i am thinking of buying another EA game. Maybe i should just set my $60 on fire and I'll probably have less regrets than buying EA games. Way to go in double dipping, a 60USD game with microtransactions. I dont care how fair will the system be, but the idea of putting a microtrasaction store for a single player game is just greedy. Then, they said they have to sell 4 million copies to make a profit, yeap, what a good idea to piss off your potential consumers by saying this kind of nonsense and double dipping. I wont surprised if Visceral ends up like Vigil with every employee being fired because they cant sell 4 million copies. EA has to get their shit together and stop destroying their games. Dead Space 3 producer teases additional story content in 'a few weeks' time
![]() QUOTE The Dead Space 3 story may get extended through DLC released in a few weeks' time. That's what a hint by game producer Steve Papoutsis seems to suggest, anyway. Papoutsis closed off a blog post today with a vague drop of a "top secret additional story." "As you can see, we have a lot planned for you in DS3," Papoutsis wrote. "And the team is hard at work on a top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks. We're not saying much, yet - but think 'disturbing' to get your imaginations going." Papoutsis also revealed there are four modes unlocked by beating the game once, namely New Game+, Classic Mode, Pure Survival Mode, and the return of Hardcore Mode, albeit with a new twist. New Game+ is as it sounds, the mode carrying over your upgrades and weaponry from the completed save. Classic Mode is single-player only, removes crafting, and employs 'classic' aiming to resemble the original Dead Space. Whereas Pure Survival is all about resource management; enemies are the only things that drop any goodies, and there are no ammo, health or weapon packs. Hardcore mode drops the three-saves-and-out of Dead Space 2, and replaces it with something that sounds far more evil. This time, you only have one life... yup, you read that right. And don't think it's something you can just avoid by going back to a previous save; as PlayStation Lifestyle details, once you die the game simply returns you to the start, end of. Evil. If we ever complete it, there better be a reward of free unlimited rainbows. Source: Joystiq |

Dead Space 3, continuing the tradition of Dead Space 2 where PC customers get shafted repeatedly and suppose to like it. EA, continuosly reassured me that boycotting their product is the best decision I ever made. |

QUOTE Dead Space 3 Pay-2-Win Cash Shop Items Listed, Priced http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Dead-Spac...iced-52015.htmlHey, remember that microtransaction shop that Visceral Games was talking about for Dead Space 3? Well, a full listing of the items have become available for public viewing, giving gamers an idea of what they can expect from the cash shop in the upcoming action-shooter title, Dead Space 3. Destructoid's Jim Sterling has the rundown, which includes the following: · Bot Capacity Upgrade $4.99 · Bot Personality Pack $4.99 · First Contact Pack Free · Marauder Pack $4.99 · Sharpshooter Pack $4.99 · Tundra Recon Pack $4.99 · Witness the Truth Pack $4.99 · Bot Accelerator $4.99 · Epic Weapon & Resource Pack $2.99 · Online Pass $9.99 · Ultra Weapon & Resource Pack $1.99 · Resource Pack $0.99 So the resource packs go for about a $1 each, which means that anytime you start a new game or need an extra boost in general resources EA will take a dollar out of your pocket. The online pass, priced at $9.99 should come as no surprise to anyone. I mean, Riccitiello and Moore need those new diamond studded golf clubs from Callaway, right? We can't have them using anything from someone cheap like Bridgestone... much less, anything without diamond-studded grips. The original reason that the microtransaction cash shop was tossed into Dead Space 3 was to help mobile gamers buy what they needed so they could pay-2-win in a retail game. I mean, you can't obviously spend actual time to enjoy the game, that would defeat the purpose of playing to have and enjoy the grind and the experience. It's all about completion these days. What's more is that all of the above items will be day-one DLC, so you'll be paying to unlock this stuff right out of the gate if you're into that sort of thing. The reason day-one DLC is here to stay is because so many of you were willing to throw money at EA for the day-one DLC for Mass Effect 3 called “From Ashes”, where EA's COO Peter Moore was proud that they were able to get gamers to pay MORE than the standard $60, turning it into additional profit as a day one sale. If you're all about helping EA hit those profit margins and continue on with the day-one DLC, on-disc DLC and microtransaction cash shops bundled in with $60 retail games, feel free to pick up a copy of Dead Space 3 when it launches for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next week. Oh yeah, and remember, you have to spend like crazy because if EA doesn't sell five million copies, Dead Space as a brand goes bust. Get your credit card ready ladies and gentlemans, EA needs moar monies to make quality games for gamers. This post has been edited by neoengsheng: Jan 31 2013, 10:25 AM |

QUOTE(FrostLance @ Jan 31 2013, 02:37 PM) I don't really agree with pirating the game because you hate it simply because it justifies EA argument that the PC market is not worth putting efforts into due to piracy and the sales is bad due to piracy, not because the game got a f**ked up design flaw.I think that a game which has 0 piracy and an abysmally low sales is the best way to slap EA in the face since it delivers the message that "your game is so sux that it does not worth the time and effort to even pirate it, eat your own shiat EA". That would be an undeniable failure that EA would need to own up to and admit that they simply suck instead of giving them the opportunity to blame the failure on piracy. Rumors said there will be a DLC that extends the ending of the game ala ME3 style.
EA: You will play pay up to get the full ending and you will like it, biatch! PS: It's arguable whether or not his is a rumor since the info is clearly on 1 of the article which was then edited to remove the info by EA's request. This post has been edited by neoengsheng: Jan 31 2013, 04:58 PM |

QUOTE Dead Space 3 launches with 11 DLC packs for speeding loot collection, kitting out character SOSDead Space 3 will launch with nearly a dozen slices of DLC, designed to help players accrue in-game loot faster and kit out hero Isaac Clarke with new weapons and suits. These options are separate to the in-game micro-transactions that Eurogamer revealed last week, which allow you to sheets of real world cash on extra resources for the game's weapon-crafting system. Still, the DLC extras do tie into the same crafting system. In Dead Space 3 you can find weapon parts and resources scattered around the game's world. You also get them delivered to you via scavenger bots. And it's these little mechanical fellows that you can pay to upgrade. There's a pack to upgrade your bots' capacity ($4.99 - about £3.15), and another for beefing up its personality ($4.99). And another for speeding up its loot collection ($4.99). Let's call it £15 for the lot. We contacted EA for more information about the add-ons (spotted on the US PlayStation Store this week) but the publisher was not able to provide UK pricing. "Everybody will find at least one of these bots in the game (and there a couple hidden ones to pick up, too.) The Scavenger Bot is an autonomous robot that can harvest resources for you and deliver them to the Tool Construction bench," Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutsis explained in a blog post addressing the various DLC packs. "As a replacement for DS2's credits, resources are a key part of the Dead Space 3 experience, and their placement in the game has been well thought out by our game designers. Whether by looting enemies, opening lockers, or exploring the world, you'll find more than enough resources in-game to fully experience DS3 on any difficulty level. "The scavenger bot's purpose is to give you an extra edge, since there's a bit of gameplay (and risk/reward) to using him and finding the richest resource caches. You can also choose to download upgrades to the scavenger bot that double his capacity or speed up his trips to the bench." The other DLC packs contain new weapons and suits for Isaac, including content provided with special edition versions of the game. These are similar to the Hazard, Supernova and Martial Law packs available at the launch of Dead Space 2. Finally, there's a onilne pass to enable online play for non-new copies of the game. The full list of launch DLC lies below. Bot Capacity Upgrade - $4.99 Bot Personality Pack - $4.99 First Contact Pack - Free Marauder Pack - $4.99 Sharpshooter Pack - $4.99 Tundra Recon Pack - $4.99 Witness the Truth Pack - $4.99 Bot Accelerator - $4.99 Epic Weapon & Resource Pack - $2.99 Online Pass - $9.99 Ultra Weapon & Resource Pack - $1.99 Resource Pack - $0.99 This post has been edited by SteamieHP: Feb 1 2013, 06:22 PM |

That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but when publishers want to hide problems, that's how they do it. Or it could be that it's just not quite done yet! We'll see -- our review starts when it comes out on Tuesday. Do you think it'll be good? To those that is interested in this game, please DO NOT buy without researching the game for issues and problems. I would even suggest to wait for at least 3 months to check on support from EA, since Dead Space 2 receives next to no support and is basically a dump-and-run project that EA dumped 3 months after launch.http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/dead-space-3/1227319p1.html |

QUOTE(neoengsheng @ Jan 31 2013, 03:52 PM) I don't really agree with pirating the game because you hate it simply because it justifies EA argument that the PC market is not worth putting efforts into due to piracy and the sales is bad due to piracy, not because the game got a f**ked up design flaw. +1I think that a game which has 0 piracy and an abysmally low sales is the best way to slap EA in the face since it delivers the message that "your game is so sux that it does not worth the time and effort to even pirate it, eat your own shiat EA". That would be an undeniable failure that EA would need to own up to and admit that they simply suck instead of giving them the opportunity to blame the failure on piracy. has been enjoying Deadspace 1 n 2 but not gonna get tis one tis time... |

well done, EA. |

QUOTE(deyamato @ Feb 4 2013, 10:12 AM) you can choose not to pay those dlc. When a developer put a micro transaction system into a game, there is always the risk that the game will be designed around the system where the players will need to make a purchase at some point in order to made some progress or suffer a long, meaningless grind in order to a little progreee through the game. if you're lazy farm and wants to make it fast = pay if you're willing to grind = dont pay. The previous Dead Space 2 is at most a 6-7 hours long gameplay which is relatively short for a 60USD game. I finished the first playthrough exploring every corner of the map with at about 12 hours. They can add a lot of paddings to the game in the form of "resource gathering and progression" when the game is this short. |

i Think the reason why the dev is scare to admit that was EA forcing them to do so as you know what EA is capable of doing, like shutting down the studio (title).

As the game is out now, Origin had another promotion till 11th February.
QUOTE Limited Edition Bonus Items, Ends Feb 11: • Witness Suit: These insulated suits were worn by a SCAF deep-dig team assigned to exhume the darkest secrets of Tau Volantis. Whatever they found locked deep in the ice changed them forever. When they emerged weeks later, they were covered head to toe in strange graffiti and claimed to be “Witness to the Truth.” • First Contact Suit: This unique EVA (extra-vehicular activity) suit was built by the SCAF for encounters with “foreign entities.” It sports a golden finish to provide protection from long-term space exposure and thick armor for … unspecified reasons. The scientist who made the suit gave it the nickname “First Contact.” • Evangelizer Weapon: A modification of the standard AL-2 used by the Sovereign Colonies Legionaries, this version sports a souped-up AL-2g assault rifle on the top with an Emerson 2100 “Big Boy” tactical shotgun on the bottom. The surviving “Witnesses” of the SCAF deep-dig team dubbed it the “Evangelizer” and decorated them top to bottom with strange symbols. • Negotiator Weapon: While technically classified by the SCAF as a “scientific instrument,” the gold-plated “Negotiator” sports some surprisingly aggressive hardware. The overclocked, top-mounted Tesla Beam is capable of bursting a man-size organism into several pieces with a single shot. The bottom-mounted Linegun appears to have been built with the sole purpose of cleanly dismembering organic tissue from a distance. Since no DS1 offer is over, getting it now. |

Hmm, then, who was that idiot who said that DS3 is a bare bone straight port without any enhancements?
Apparently, there are even ways to tweak the FoV by an .ini file? EA needs to work on their PR, stop spewing crap and piss people off. Or the gaming media has been reporting the wrong stuff? |

only managed to play until chapter 2, so far everything is ok for me. graphics wasn't that bad, although the options to play with the settings was blackened out. maybe it's because i'm playing on my lappie.
it seems harder than i remembered when i was playing DS1 and DS2, but i guess it's my skill although funny thing is, i still haven't seen the micro transaction in the bench.. unless i have to access the suit kiosk first to get it. all in all, still a good experience for me |

So far, from Gamespy, the port is a decent port but with no improved hi-res texture.
The game itself is rated with a lot of 8 and 9 by major gaming sites pf which one of it said the game is "the greatest action game of the generation"(LOL) and magazines and 5 by Kotaku which said it is plain boring, uninspired, repetitive and lots and lots of backtracking and reused level design and fights. As for me, I'm not buying this simply because I do not agree to EA adding a micro transaction on top of a full priced game. Also, Origin exclusive. |

I don't really bother whether it is origin or retail. Both take time to either download/shipping. However I don't want to pay extra for some in game items. Eh crap, I got no DVD drive. I found a seller selling RM 135 for retail only compared to around 160 for LE on origin which I don't care about the extra digital stuff. If it is soundtracks or artwork I don't mind getting but in game items, nah. |

Textures aren't imrpved from medium > ultra, because texture res for models and enviroments are the same from PC.
The only thing that improves from medium > ultra is some better usage of lighting, a few more light scenes and I suppose, a use of some form of AA (FXAA I presume, need to confirm). You really think the devs would be so hardworking to create a complete PC version alongside consoles? No way, they're under EA man. |

People say no more horror but i still almost hv a heart attack when the necromoph ambush. The music also add the suspense. Try playing at night with full volume. I think i feel this game is easier than DS1 and DS2 because the control is smooth. I still remember play DS1 while feeling weird when to aim.

Because thats a cheap way of making a horror element Also DS1 was bugged because of vsync and mouse aiming which is fixable with turning it off DS2 they improve into kinda like arcade aiming due to they take the suggestion from fans. hmm DS3 so far for me really lesser little the "horror" there but ya they put/ expand more Dead Space's sci fi element inside make it more like you are astroNUT fighting necromorph there. also missions. so far i play till chap 4. "So, arguably if you go into this game knowing you are supposed to be paying for these weapons and you notice a glitch allows you to accumulate them without paying, that's theft as well.
"But it is arguable because it's a new area." -Sara Ludlam, an intellectual property expert at Lupton, Fawcett, Lee & Priestley told the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21367852 |

Now a word from our gracious overlords
http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/11/releasing-...f-warns-schell/ QUOTE Schell games CEO and industry analyst Jesse Schell has warned that releasing a demo of your game before launch can kill your sales. Schell argues his case against releasing a demo at DICE Summit 2013 last week, and he had the stats to back up his claim too. Above: EA recently confirmed that the Dead Space 3 demo was downloaded over 2 million times. PCGamesN reports that Schell stated, “You mean we spent all this money making a demo and getting it out there, and it cut our sales in half? Yes, that’s exactly what happened to you.” He cautioned developers that without a demo to test, gamers will have to buy a game in order to see if it’s any good or not, while demo downloads will often deter players from picking up the full release, rather than encouraging a purchase. Schell also explained that the games selling most were those that built up expectations by not releasing a demo, while teaser trailers and other marketing ploys worked more effectively than a demo to raise interest in titles. |

well, saw the early portion of the game played by my roomies (girl power yeah!)
i have to say, the game gave me the impression of playing gears of war with a tiny bit of cheap scare jumps elements. quite sad to see a big franchise like dead space trying very hard to become a generic action shooter. |

i found this game to be very fun. It wasn't scary (dead space 2 wasn't either) but i got this game with the same mindset as RE5.
Action oriented horror. Which i like, i'm not much of a pure horror. The weapon crafting feature is addictive and generally the action, shooting and coop is very fun. Add me on origin MadToilet-jHp- for coop games. I'm always down. |

One of the most favourite weapons of mine currently is the the carbine/shotgun combo (can't remember the special name becausea that time i using heavy elite frame...after finish game it unlock / i got the frame with 2 slots unlock but built in stat reload speed faster a bit not yet get MKII module yet, duno what is difference with current one i use. some more since i'm in classic mode, can only create weapons that are from previous DS games. if not i would've switched the shotgun with a grenade launcher and attach that damage protection. much much better at getting rid of multiple nercs at close range. although lately i've been thinking of cheating in the game to get the full experience since i've finished solo mode |

hmm how did you guys get the +3 circuits? highest i've ever got was +2. is it on hardcore mode only or something?
i was thinking of getting the devil horns first. i read somewhere you can carry forward the horns to other modes by saving the blueprint and loading it in the new game. btw what's the most favorite suits for you guys? i just managed to get the N7 suit, more close to DS 2 design |

Anyone here using full Mk-V parts ? Personally I prefer to use the S.C.A.F frame with Mk-V parts just because of the damage boost that the frame gives.
I got a Pulse Rifle with Mk-V parts with a S.C.A.F. frame and it's an absolutely awesome weapon <3 |

There are lot of decent alternatives to EA offerings, for every single genre. I decided to no longer buy EA product since 2010. Even some indie titles offer more value for money. I seriously believe any gamer can survive without any EA titles on their shelf.

EA kinda killed the franchise with DS3,
1) Its not as scary as it used to be, especially in DS1 2) Predictable, cliche' story line 3) They took off dark elements from the game.. I remember how dead space story would be very dark, and full of mysteries. DS3 kinda took off the element 4) Universal Ammo =( 5) Most of the time your in this ice planet, should call it Dead Snow or something :/ 6) The Armor!!, most people dun realize.. how the armor have change to fit the modern day futuristic design... I still prefer the classic DS1 armor where Issac wears like a big daddy diving suit. At least they should include that into one of the choices. :/ 7) The ending?? Gosshh whyy?? |

DS2 should rename to DEAD CITY lor . 6) all the armor in DS3 is 200 years ago stuff, i personally feel is okay because the most futuristic suit is Carver's normal suit, and EVA suit. otherwise all is vintage stuff. 7) no comment on ending, either they make reboot on different character or they end it this time. |

I just manged to play the games only recently and now at about 35% completion.
DS1 is the best in everything. DS2 is still ok but DS3... game pace is abit off and less scary. Only thing good is the weapon crafting and the sound system. The atmosphere still good and manage to capture the feels as in the DS comic / film like this one I captured in-game ![]() |

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Mar 12 2013, 10:46 AM) got meh? It's there dude, check it out. I had to be really patient cuz the credits went on for about 10 minutes I think. Was bloody well worth the wait though.i remember ellie crying while i keep staring on her boobs not sure is video/voice recording or real time radio call. do remember that Hehe Ellie's digital boobs - that's a low point for Visceral lah (unless those EA execs had something to do with it!) My only complaint about DS3 is the difficulty setting. Even on impossible it's still a breeze! This post has been edited by Vioreth: Mar 12 2013, 11:07 AM |

Awakened made me shit bricks. This is what Dead Space should be all about.
Hope they bring this insanity/horror back in Dead Space 4....if there is a DS4. |

I prefer they make fresh franchise with same mechanic (cutting limbs) as Dead space 1, atmospheric environment, scary moments.
They already explained everything about the marker. future Dead space will be dead boring/ not mysterious. The ending of this trilogy is perfect. let it be that way. but EA really ruin the game !!!! Open WOrkbench -> DLC advertisement on your face, really ruin the atmosphere. Please dont support DLC |

Hey guys, wanna ask something.
I've just finished standard mode and started a new game - classic mode. Notice that a new save file is created for this classic mode and all the items in the inventory in standard mode is gone. Everything start from scratch again. Besides, all the guns I created in standard mode also can't be used in classic mode and other modes (in the future)? Is it that every diff game mode has its own inventory as well as guns? How about when I ply with other friends in co op? If my friend in standard mode, then I only can use the inventory and guns in standard mode but not other modes? I'm confused!!!! |

Let me sum up the New Game+ modes for you :
1) New Game+ : Basically everything from standard mode carries over , you get access to Mk-II parts and you can use this mode to 100% your game if you haven't done so in New Game 2) Classic Mode : Single player only , you can only construct weapons out of blueprints you find and aiming is always in Classic Mode aiming style. Completing this unlocks the Devil Horns (aka Handcannon from Dead Space 2) 3) Hardcore Mode : Single player only. Just like Hardcore Mode in Dead Space 2. Completing this gives you the 'Retro Mode' filter which makes the game look 8-Bit-ish which IMHO makes it scarier lol |

I actually felt boring playing Dead Space 3 because of too many encounters with the same necromorphs and pointless fetch quests. It's so predictable!!! I already know where the necromorphs are going to pop out and when that it's a chore to finish the game, no surprises.
I do like the last part though chasing after Danik inside the machine, it was refreshing change of scenery and enemies from the so many levels of military base I have entered cutting same necromorphs limbs again and again. Awakened was slightly disturbing with the limbs as decor...haha. Glad for the atmosphere it brings out! |

Right after finding Ellie and team, I start to get bored from there on... fetch quest and same necromorphs killing cycle begin.
I suppose if you play coop, things won't be so boring. If a game failed to scare the shit outta me, where's the fun in that? |

DS1 > DS2
just finished DS2 and i gotta say it is not scary at all, just a decent 3rd person shooter. the feeling that you first step into medical bay, bridge facing the unknown in DS1 is totally gone. DS2 just send in wave and wave of necromorphs at u. Gears of DeadSpace. |

^ Agreed! The unknown element in DS1 is what make it interesting and creates the suspense of horror, alone, abandon, no hope, fear, etc

Coop is fun to play with a friend (for me at least). But still gonna need to play single player since the cutscenes in sp and coop are different.
