I have a problem digging space for a proper amp + woofer setup, a friend of mine introduced me this type of active sub, and he also mentioned its around RM 800.

checked with local shop, they mentioned the output suck, but i havent seen one so i have no idea hes defination of "suck".

any ideas from u guy?

usually woofers with built in amps would suck....its still best to seperate them...

what kinda car do u drive that u have problems with space? what do u have in ur car right now dude?

i am driving an unser LGX model.

currently only have a pioneer 5000MP 2 din HU. and overdriving the stock speakers, which I think is

front - 5.5" mid + tweeter
rear - 2 ways 5.5"

i know unser is a big car, but believe me, I need the 3rd row cargo for goods delivery.

the passenger seat has a drawer, the driver seat is the only place i can do something. sad.gif

i also considered adding a 4 channel amp (ProKick F1-404), and change the front to some component speaker, and the rear to a better mid bass.

or any idea u can suggest to me, i would really prefered to do those as cheap as posible. best if under 1k. but i would not mind if around 1-2k.

if lack of space for woofer box.. ,
then might as well just get a NOS bass tube .. looks cool yet save space..
ppl might think it's really a NOS tank .. tongue.gif

i'm using one... , the mohawk 8" nos bass tube...
the punch quite ok... but the bass very low umphh..
in short.. , bass tube is bassy more than punchy... while save out some spaces..

it only requires some length space.. rather than the cumberstone woofer box..
my amp. is covered by the yellow cloth...

a bass tube is a good idea actually. itll take up abit of space in ur boot. but dont lie it down. stand it up. i would suggest 10" woofer. i would also suggest a 10" woofer in a box. will take up even less space in the boot... and u can actually put ur cargo on it.

or u could get a custom enclosure to make it fit under ur front seat like u want. meaning the woofer will be facing up instead of side. can be done. ive seen those kinda enclosures before. worst comes to worst...go for 8" woofers.

i suggest going to an installer and tell him what u want. he might be able to help u out with something. if ur in PJ. go to CV Audio in uptown. talk to the boss named peter. hell be more than happy to help u with ur options.

but be warned. ur gonna have to be firm with ur budget. the feller really knows how to racun one. up to today i still havent figured out a way to slip by his racuns...hehhehehehhehehe

ehm, so in general active sub provide punchy bass rather than bassy bass lah?

ehm, i think i should be OK with that as long as i get some bass, the current system of mine, the high is ok, the mid is ok, except the low is MIA.

thx for the inputs guy, the bass tube is out of my option, ugly if u ask me... lol

This kind of active subwoofer is oni good for a little bit of bass since its oni 6.5" but if u are talking about going low its quite impossible for such a small subwoofer,on top of that the material use is some kinda metal for the enclosure. Sometime u can even hear voice coming out from the sub too. Frankly speaking I don't like it. Cost wise its just too expensive for such a small subwoofer, for the same amount of money you pay,you can get better subwoofer with lesser money spend.

If you are into pure sq subwoofer, then i will suggest you to get the following subwoofer:

-Seas Lotus SW300 or Seas Lotus SW250
-Phase Evolution Aliante 12 Si Ltd
-Peerless Xls
-Alpine Type X or Type R
etc

Just my 2 cents

active sub can produce deep bass...very low freq (mine is 40-80)..thru it's design and the spk freq response and specs... usually active sub using bandpass enclosure..it make the freq more lower than the spk can handle..and usually active sub spk got a very high damping factor..but, it wont go loud..if u are into soft music, then it's ok..if u sometime rnb sometime rock sometime classic sometime pop then get a real damn big sub instead...

so true my master... notworthy.gif that w00x can go low, but not loud...

Tohsan, thread starter concern bout space and cost, ur recommended sub is useless, pricey btw.... SQ and high end=yes, cost and space = no... he asked for an undrseat sub, which is the one we discussed, just a simple, nice listening in the car... notworthy.gif my 2cents.... notworthy.gif

oh hi, i just noticed this thread still runnig after few months. biggrin.gif
my car still with the same speakers.

got a few more suggestion from shops.
1. Add 2 x 6*9 on the rear door panel + 2 channel amp
2. Add 1 x 2 channel amp + 1 x 8" Sub + box
3. Add 1 x 4 channel amp, and change front speaker to component.

so far, havent seen the actual unit of th alphine yet, but seems like no one recommended that
