Did anybody here changed the thermal compound for y480? Any major improvement? One flaw is that the cleaning of the fan/heatsink is a hassle since its so hard to reach!

Any videos or tutorial to dissemble y480 heatsink?

I think probably we need to get someone to ship back the US laptop to msia and sell to us. then the price sure cheaper a lot. even sager i get around 1k lesser compare to local distributor

hm... the price of courier laptop to msia is freaking expensive....cost more than 1k sometime so not worth if including shipping fee

another thing folks: when we buy from online sellers, or even from a shops, how do we know if they are AP set or not?

laptops got AP version?

ap set..the spec might vary abit from local spec
the only way i know is to key in serial no in lenovo website under check warranty
check under location

Can u check whether Y480 headphone jack with SPDIF digital output? Thanks.
Just check realtek audio properties any digital output and any red light come out from headphone port as per Y470 below.
According to Y480/580 spec sheet, its headphone/spdif combo but not in manual.

Y470 headphone port is combo with SPDIF as in link HERE.

Mine one seems like auto, coz got default device settings in Realtek there(I don't have any SPDIF digital output device so can't test)

U can set whether use HDA or Digital Output as default device, so by default it will always running that device(I set HDA as default)
Just now when I test set Digital Output as default device, when I test the system sound it got red light come out(but no sound since I don't have any digital output device can play the sound)

I think the red light is the indicator.

anyone here have a y480 with either a u2 cooler or u3 cm cooler?
I thought of getting the u3 cooler,but after checking the dimensions...its quite huge at around 42cmx30cm...

Is it too big for y480?also,i thought of carrying the cooler in my backpack..can a u3 fit inside the backpacks??

U3 is for 15"-17" laptop mang. Too big to fit into normal bagpack.

BTW got anybody can confirm with me Y580 in Singapore is FHD version or HD version if bought more than one week ago?
coz my friend bought at RM3749(after convert), free a logitech wireless mouse, a 16GB sony pendrive, a lenovo headset but he dunno is HD or FHD version(I got tell him check but he still din reply me), if he bought is HD version then totally expensive...lol
