As you wish, this is the stress test I done one hour ago, the duration of the test is around 40minute, under room temperature without any cooler.

The HDD temperature break record again doh.gif , now I seriously consider moving it to DVD rom.

Thanks again for ur efforts as its help to clear the doubts on its temp. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
No need to worry so much with this stress temp. as it will never happens in ur normal usage.
Nice temp. for CPU max at 83c, GPU 74c under FULL stress test showing the FULL copper heat sink is working great thumbup.gif . HDD temp can be taken care by using suitable cooler pointing to the air vent or swap with DVD, no worry.

Its making me to change my focus to Y480 & oc it to GTX660M. brows.gif

It seems that it can easily oc to GTX660M with only slight change in temp. brows.gif

Try whether can oc GPU/memory to its limit 100% without throttles. Do monitor ur temp.

It auto throttles. 10% for 3d mark 06 ok.

But for 3d mark 11 screen got flashhs

Wait for the WHQL driver.

650m can OC to 660m, but the temp for long run. sure die.

15.6" laptop cooling 660m no problem.
Wait for my SSD is on the way from US ^.^

Then test again.
*
If any throttles, it should reflect during Furmark. But ur gpu not throttles.
Just curious why gpu base clock return to default 835mhz instead of oc 930mhz when u stop Furmark. hmm.gif

Its different from ur OC setting below.
OC GTX 660M Boost 950MHz to 1045MHz ! Memory from 1250MHz to 1312MHz Dual Channel is 2625MHz!

If same setting, gpu OC base clock is 930mhz with boost clock 1045mhz.
Wen Furmark finish, gpu should clock 930mhz & not 835mhz(default).

Thanks. Glad to know u OC without any throttles. rclxms.gif
Wen free, try to max OC & check any throttles during Furmark.
Wish u can challenge GT650M oc to GTX660M tongue.gif
Good night...
QUOTE(jammerlee711 @ Jul 3 2012, 03:43 AM)
actually all Nvidia GPU clocks go lower than the OCed value/max value after you stop loading it
because
1) the GPU can cool itself down faster that way
2) save power

you can test it yourself if you got a computer with Nvidia card..load it with furmark or watever software then close the software
..you'll see the clocks go lower than usual..but when u load it again it will go back to the max speed... nod.gif
*
Thanks for clarification as I also thinking the same. rclxms.gif

aiks ytlay ..deepcool is already using GTX660 ~
anyway, i do agree to OC that already superman-like GTX660 to it's limit (without burning a hole on the board or kill the HDD of course)

GTX660m= OCed GT650m. If GTX660m dont move, better watch up Y480 lol... tongue.gif

Increse 5-6 FPS?  shakehead.gif

If ur average fps is 25. Extra 5-6 fps will really help. brows.gif

can sifu list out for me step by step how to oc gt650m to gt660m smile.gif
*
Its not recommended to OC GPU in the long run, as the extra heat will shorten its lifespan.
u ve to be pro in using necessary tools to monitor the temperature & stability with a suitable cooler, otherwise u may burn ur hardware.
Any way, do it at ur own risk. tongue.gif

any link for relocated HDD to DVD location??
*
There is a guide for Y580 in chinese site HERE.
Take note DVD location was not specially designed for HDD, as it don't ve proper HDD ventilation & shock protection. Watch out the warranty sticker as u may void the warranty if broken. Alternatively, choose a suitable cooler with fan pointing to ventilation hole is a more simple solution. nod.gif

I called up AllIT in lowyat to ask fr theY480/GT650 but they said it was all SOLD OUT!  cry.gif

Another garage sales place still has it but the RAM is DDR1600 + DDR1333. Wonder if that is going to cause any problem hmm.gif
Anyone got experience with that? And where to buy a msata SSD 32/64..
*
Killer model sure sell like hot cake biggrin.gif . May be Lenovo holding some stocks for coming PC fair hmm.gif so watch out & be fast.
iirmc DDR1600 + DDR1333 = DDR1333 performance, its better to get the same speed ram for faster performance.

What is the best cooler for Y580/ Y480?

Let's look at Y580 and its heat distribution,
Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

Notepal U3 is one of the best solution as we can adjust the fans pointing to the air vent at the bottom for effective cooling. biggrin.gif

Recommend one large silent fan. Becoz U3 adjust to direct air into laptop, after one year will clogged by dust.
*
U3 is more effective in cooling as its increase the airflow inside the laptop. Just get some air filters place on top of fan to reduce dust. biggrin.gif
