i am planing to buy Asus RT-N66U Wireless-N900. when i go to lowyat i note 2 difference in hardware package. but the h/w version for both is B1. MFG Year 2012

1. comes with latest Firmware Version 3.0.0.3.112

2. comes with older Firmware Version 3.0.0.3.90 (with a sticker support Unifi For Firmware upgrade)

i was told by sales person that the same prod came from 2 different Asus supplier. the one with ver 3.0.0.3.112 has supplier name on the front box.

need your suggestion to suggest which one works perfectly for unifi.. thanks..

left it switch on with audio streaming for 15 hours 40 mins going perfectly well.

no wifi instability issue like the tm dir-615 router.

Audio streaming is lightweight traffic...
Been torrenting for 24/7 since like back in March on RT-56U, never freezed even once.

well i had a n56 that heated up, died, replaced and then was given a option to upgrade to a n66 with topup by asus.

still find the tplink 1043nd a better value of a router just that had to mod it to extend the range a bit.

i been using the router so far no problems. signal coverage is really the best. with dir-615 in my bedroom with co. notebook. i only can get 30% signal strength & sometimes get disconnected due to week signal. now i get full signal strength 100% most times. my desktop upstairs also get 95% - 100% full strength. which with dir-615 only 40% signal strength.

the router is warm even left on 3 days more still going solid. i put in living room with deck phone. while the btu & iptv is inside cabinet.

fyi my router, btu & deck phone are UPS.

if u go to lowyat plaza. there are 2 batch of the same prod. one with 90 f/w the other with 112 f/w. i buy the 90 f/w and upgrade to 108. works perfectly fine & the configuration very straight forward & simple.

as far 108 i read in forums are working fine. more details here.

i dare not to test out the 112. i wait for the reviews first hehe. know what someone @lowyat had it worked with 112.

vesion 90 is unifi certified. as far i knew because there is a unifi sticker on it.

not that I'm aware of, but C-zone (where I bought RT-66u) advised me to stick with .108 and skip the .112. They will informed me if any upcoming firmware is stable and safe to upgrade

can I use this on my Streamyx 4Mbps?

possible to use any DSL modem, then use Asus n66 to connect ?

lets say I got TM riger modem, which may crash when heavy p2p download

how if i use Asus but still connect with this TM riger modem, any performance difference? will TM DSL modem still crash like usual?

the main reason i get n66 is for high speed local network activities like hd media streaming and so on

you can connect it to riger as AP. for heavy loading make sure the device has ample cooling. AP with riger not sure about it. if anyone tested it.

p2p download you can connect external usb hard disk to the device. the device has the utility to assist you. when you can let it download without having your pc on.

i personally configure my RT_N66U offline. wth just one cable direct to my pc to NIC port 1 of router. when it ask for internet detection loop. i skipped it. i make sure everything is completed. then plug it directly to internet.

one thing i noted about this setting Idle Disconnect Time in seconds: Disconnect after time of inactivity (in seconds): i put 900 but cannot connect to internet. when i change the value to 0, internet can connect fine. the same i put on dir-615 before.
