I suspect that it would take another 6-8 months before we see any form of refresh.

Apple is definitely looking to kill the Macbook Pro somewhere down the line.

Weather it's before the iMac or after is hard to say.

But any form of new desktop or laptop product announcement is most likely 6-8 months away.
*
6-8months eh? okay den i would consider the iMac. im currently using c2d 15' mbp. its been about 3 years already, and being in the design field i kinda need something more updated to handle the rendering and editing needs. hence im now considering either an iMac or the new mbp. but i think the iMac seems to be the better option as its more capable. i could use my old mbp den for portability.

you guys agree? hmm.gif

I am having the c2d 15 mbp too. Same age like yours. But i am planning my next mac is going to be mba 11 inch.. Haa.i think it can handle the works i am doing especially video editing. The upgradeable to 8GB RAM is the most hype to see from MBA.

Well, not appropriate for painting works anyway due to screen size which i have to face it everyday.

After these years, MBP is darn heavy whenever i traveling back and forth from hometown..
The "feather" weight and powerful processor on MBA seems to beyond my MBP spec. But the built-in GPU card and Big Screen which makes me think twice to sell off my MBP.

the GPU card is already a few years out-dated but it still can manage most latest games that i interested. So, it don't really becomes an obsolete machine in my daily usage.

From 15inch downgrade to 11inch screen... Hmmm..

Anyone doing this and no regret?

If got a car to carry MBP is perfectly fine.. but by walking... Ewww...
*
hahha i do have the 13' mba. but i feel having two laptops seems pretty redundant. i bought the mba late last year when i needed to travel. now its an alternative laptop. for me, i dont feel the 'reliability' of the mba, with it having sucha small hdd and with it being so thin and refine, you wud think that it wudnt be able to handle massive jobs. hence i only use it for perhaps some light editing etc on the go. i am thinking i still need a powerhouse to handle my workload.. rclxub.gif

Rm600 saves me a lot, judging on the price of this beats.
upgrading the RAM to 16GB already cost RM612
so its more like a free upgrade for me
*
does the apple shop in taylors do customization? from the way you put it, the 16GB ram upgrade seems like a bargain if the shop offers that. thumbup.gif

Would like to ask sifus here.

I just got myself a retina mbp. The display is gorgeous, however it is normal that the bottom area of screen is darker than the upper part? I noticed the bottom part is slightly darker or yellowish.

It is normal?
*
doesnt sound normal. mayb try putting a full white wallpaper and see from diff angles, and see whether the patch area remains the same? mm hopefully its some reflection and your rmbp is not defective.

Am using the Logitech M950 with Darkfield laser sensor with my rMBP. Very very sensitive and awesome. biggrin.gif
I was using the Orochi for a short period right before I sold it off. There is this irritating ~1 second lag when the mouse awakes from sleep, and the mouse sleeps very fast when in wireless mode (like if left idle for just a minute or less.. can't really remember).

It doesn't affect much when gaming as your mouse is constantly moving all the time, but when you are doing some proper productive work or even surfing the web.. it can be hell of irritating when the mouse keeps 'lagging' to wake up after being left idle.  sweat.gif

Also, the mouse is kinda too small for my hand but I love the look of it (I had the Black Chrome version which looks really cool!  thumbup.gif )

Some pic spam of my ex-Orochi just for kicks. (I took this photo with my MBA 13 some time ago).

I dont experience this problem with my orochi either. Perhaps you shud have gotten it checked, could be something faulty. But yeah, the chrome version sure looks cool. thumbup.gif

it's a preference thing I guess. it'll irk me to no end seeing that extra layer of thickness at the wall plug if using an adapter ._.

other than that there really isn't a downside to purchasing a us set, is there?
*
doesnt exactly have to b layers of adapters, it cud be simply changing the head on the macsafe charger itself, or rather just use another extension adapter. thumbup.gif

Quite costly then, i remember when i was oversea buying extended warranty from places like harvey norman or d*** smith for apple product or computers isnt quite as costly and u can max it to 5 yrs.
*
bro im living overseas now with excess to stores like d*** smith and jbhifi, the ACPP coverage does cost pretty much the same when converted back.

for exp:
ACPP for rMBP here goes for about $400.
upon converting back to RM it would be about RM1200+.
apple store MY is selling it at RM1199.

if i can afford it when im purchasing my new mac, i would definitely get the ACPP with it as well. blush.gif

Ya, just curious why nobody in Malaysia or Lowyat Forum complain about this. Maybe they send all the good quality MacBook Pro RD to Malaysia? Haha..

yeah i just think we are less particular about it compared users from the states.
doubt it has anything to do with the goods' quality.

well it kinda depends on your budget to begin with, den would be your preference. cant exactly say, if you need windows, or if you dont 'need' to use OSx den you shud get a windows laptop.

apple has a way of getting people wanting their product, based on the way they link one product to another: airplay etc.

and there is always the OSx experience which i personally think has much better user interface and more intuitive than windows.

specs wise, apple laptop doesnt exactly lose out that much with the same amount of money you are paying. if you are someone that cares too much of what is written on paper (spec list) rather than how it performs, den perhaps you are abit blinded.

my Rmbp is ready for shipment. Before it arrives, I need to know what I need to check when receiving it.
I already compile some of it. Is there anything that I miss out?  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

a. Scratches
b. Dents
c. Dead pixels
d. Yellow tint
e. Backlight bleed
f. White spots
g. Ghosting

*
whoa. bro dont exactly have to be that particular.
overthinking it might have you finding faults in the rMbp when there isnt. notworthy.gif
