Hi all,

I think my Wira 1.6 (WDX) is having gearbox problems...sometimes it does not move when I put it into D. Does anyone know where is the best/inexpensive place to get the gearbox looked at or replaced?

Please share your experience.

Thank you very much!

i'm at shah alam too, last time also using wira 1.6XLi auto.. better u change to manual.. this model of gbx kinda problematic, even fully overhaul gbx will not confirm can last long..

if u still wanna use auto, all u need to do 1st is to find at halfcut shop n buy the gbx 1st.. then after buy it (usually got 1 month warranty for the gbx), install at workshop, labor around rm100-200 not sure current price.. not include gbx oil n filter..

Since you open this thread asking about gearbox, might as well I bandwagon along.

Anyone know where to get a manual gearbox for my 1.5 Wira. Any recommended halfcut shops? I'm in Klang Valley

The gbox can be fixed. All you need to do is to replace the clutches and all the internal parts and may also need to change the torque converter.

Should not cost you more than RM2000 all in. I did my Perdana gbox (same as Wira 1.6) for only RM1300 at Soon Fong Gearbox Specialist Pandan Indah.

You can also try MScope Batu Caves but IMHO they are a bit expensive but they claim they use all original Mitsu or Japan parts.

Auto Wira 1.6 GB should be around RM 1600, after trade in your gearbox around RM 1200 including installation.

If you plan to continue to drive your Wira, better install a AT gearbox cooler.

Mine was lucky case, changed mine after 16 years of driving, without a AT cooler tongue.gif

If you intend to overhaul, you might need to leave your car there for a few days because they need time to rebuild everything.

And do whatever service that involve removing the engine, since you can save labour cost anyway laugh.gif

yup, luck plays the role too.. i have friend using wira 1.6 auto year 1995, until now his car gbx still good.. but i think at year 1995, wira 1.6 auto still monitor by japan workers so the quality is good back then..
FYI auto gbx at chop shop cheap, around rm500-700 not sure exactly.. fully service gbx could be very expensive, but from i read this model of gbx is not durable enough.. it will spoil after some time, diff with manual gbx which u only need to change clutch plate around 4-5 years of usage n gbx oil for manual much cheaper n less (around 2 liter only, auto need more then that)
