Need some quotation here, how much does a light bulb of a Saga FL cost?
I am referring to the front bulb (for big light ) Is it recommended to bring it to Proton SC to fix the bulb or can DIY? I am worry if DIY the light shine too high or senget ><

Please advise.
Thank you.

Depends on you're looking for standard replacement or upgraded bulbs. If your model is the twin bulb type, then the bulb type is H7, if you're is the old single bulb model, then the bulb type is H4. Shouldn't be too hard to change just the bulbs, and it wouldn't make any effect on the light shine at all if you're just changing the bulb, unless you're talking about trying to level the lights yourself.

Changing the light bulb is just removing a fixed position bulb and replacing it.

Hi GRexer,

I think mine have twin bulb type, not sure what you mean by twin bulb but I can see in the headlight there are 2 in total, one is middle and the other one is at the outer side. For my case after checking, the outer light bulb (shine bigger light) not functioning at all d.

I am going on a one day trip n might need to travel at night so was thinking where can I buy the light bulb and maybe fix it on my own. Is there any specific name for Saga FL light? so that when I go to shop those mechanic wont "parang" me >< Btw how much does it cost for one light bulb as you mentioned,H7 and H4 respectively.

Many thanks

how old is your car already?...how many KM already?
my case, the mech say its the belt problem...yesterday change, the sound did dissapear but have to monitor awhile longer on cold start and when its hot...see if the tak tak sound still there or not
*
if cold start then the tak tak tak sound is very loud, after driving for lest say 30 minutes then the sound will slowly disappear but some time after you turn off engine and on back, the tak tak tak will appear again but not so loud like during cold start.

Edit: car aly 1 years and 4 months old....around 43k KM aly.

not worn i think...it just made an annoying sound only
i check the one taken out by the mech ...both the timing belt and A/C belt doesn't seem worn
none of those dried out/wrinkles as well
*
will send it to SC this weekend to check on it..hopefully by the time I reach SC the sound is still there ><

Sound by Tappets will increase with revs...
Suspect it's sound made by hydraulic valve lifters used in Campro...kinda loose?  tongue.gif

Hi... wave.gif
Yup, it can happen 2any car with hydraulic valve lifters...ole gen Sagas din't hv...
BLM & later use hydraulic valve lifters...that's why not need 2adjust valve clearances during service intervals. So ...the Good & the Bad?  tongue.gif

Pls chk out these vids re noises made by such lifters :
1.

2.

3.

4.

Added on June 28, 2012, 1:08 pmps. My FL has those sounds...obvious esp when cold... sad.gif
Mech @SC told me it's ok & need 2change only when VERY noisy... tongue.gif

I think the 4th video is the sound that my FL is producing....so it is normal for our car to have this sound? How do we know when the sound is "noisy" and needed for a replacement ?

yes it is normal for CAMPRO to develop d hydraulic lifter's sound. mine started to develop around 40k mileage. solutions? try complain to SC if under warranty. some SC replace d lifters (16 pcs) while some SC replace d whole engine head. they did d later for me. if cant claim then just hv to live with it. use thicker oil n change every 5000km.

personally i find using semi-syn 10W-40 a bit too thin n can hear d tappet sound. tried Shell, Castrol n Petronas all same result. abit of history of my car:

factory filled oil was Petronas Mach 5 20W-50. found d engine heavy n FC very high (maybe engine still tight). so at 1st, 2nd n 3rd service, i use Castrol GTX 15W-40. very smooth. engine revs better n improved FC.

starting 4rd service, i swith to Castrol Magnatec 10W-40. can hear engine abit louder. then subsequently also tried Shell HX7. tappet sound stated to develop ard 40k km n get worse as mileage increase.

then at 45k service made a complain at SC. they agree to help me submit a claim under extended warranty as it's already after 3 years factory warranty. use back Castrol GTX 15W-40 while waiting for warranty n surprisingly d tappet noise reduced n engine quieter.

changed new engine head at 48k km n SC uses Petronas Syntium 10W-40. no wierd sound but engine abit loud. at 54k km tried Petronas Syntium 10W-40 again. then slowly can hear slight tappet sound again!!

recently at 59k, changed bac to Castrol 15W-40. also add abit of tufoil. engine turned quieter n tappet sound gone!!

Conclusion (at least for my Campro)  = 10W-40 abit too thin. will stick to 15W-40 for d coming services.

thanks for the sharing bro, btw what did you tell SC that they agree to claim on the warranty? For my case, I am worried that by the time I drive from home to the nearest SC which is around 10km away, the tak tak tak sound might be very minimal and they cannot find out what problem. Or can I record it in my phone and show them ? tongue.gif tongue.gif

i dn't think its that cheap
and it depends on which kind of bulb u want
and as saga FL...u need 2 bulb each...meaning total of 4 H7 bulb
your bulb how old already?..so fast die already?
*
only left side , which is the "big light" light bulb..only lasted for 16 months then kantoi d cry.gif at first I was thinking to change to OSRAM NBP but need to buy in pair. So my plan now is to change back the OEM standard light bulb which can be bought seperately (not in pair) with also cheaper.

Any recommended spare part shop?
