yes it is normal for CAMPRO to develop d hydraulic lifter's sound. mine started to develop around 40k mileage. solutions? try complain to SC if under warranty. some SC replace d lifters (16 pcs) while some SC replace d whole engine head. they did d later for me. if cant claim then just hv to live with it. use thicker oil n change every 5000km.
personally i find using semi-syn 10W-40 a bit too thin n can hear d tappet sound. tried Shell, Castrol n Petronas all same result. abit of history of my car:
factory filled oil was Petronas Mach 5 20W-50. found d engine heavy n FC very high (maybe engine still tight). so at 1st, 2nd n 3rd service, i use Castrol GTX 15W-40. very smooth. engine revs better n improved FC.
starting 4rd service, i swith to Castrol Magnatec 10W-40. can hear engine abit louder. then subsequently also tried Shell HX7. tappet sound stated to develop ard 40k km n get worse as mileage increase.
then at 45k service made a complain at SC. they agree to help me submit a claim under extended warranty as it's already after 3 years factory warranty. use back Castrol GTX 15W-40 while waiting for warranty n surprisingly d tappet noise reduced n engine quieter.
changed new engine head at 48k km n SC uses Petronas Syntium 10W-40. no wierd sound but engine abit loud. at 54k km tried Petronas Syntium 10W-40 again. then slowly can hear slight tappet sound again!!
recently at 59k, changed bac to Castrol 15W-40. also add abit of tufoil. engine turned quieter n tappet sound gone!!
Conclusion (at least for my Campro) = 10W-40 abit too thin. will stick to 15W-40 for d coming services.
thanks for the sharing bro, btw what did you tell SC that they agree to claim on the warranty? For my case, I am worried that by the time I drive from home to the nearest SC which is around 10km away, the tak tak tak sound might be very minimal and they cannot find out what problem. Or can I record it in my phone and show them ?
