QUOTE(locolyric @ Jul 4 2012, 12:01 AM) how was it feel ? is it a hard or soft case? personally i prefer the nokia original case, i had a similar ROCK case for my HTC ONE X and I don't like the material, it feels like thick compressed cardboard, semi-hard, scratched my one x some more because it's very tight, don't know for pureview. the other problem is that there is no lens cap for this case, since that part bulges out, it can easily get scratched and you don't want your 41MP lens to get scratched rite Added on July 4, 2012, 12:02 amwondering is there any enhancement lens which suit 808 perfectly ? |

ya, hopefully there will be more cases soon.
anyway, looking at the construction of the cap and string, i don't think (for me that is) it will get loose anytime soon unless i super rough or pinjam my dog to use the phone..for those who can't find a case, do get a pocket sleeve or something, my good fren's 808 lens already got tiny hairline scratches because he use naked, can see when shine light at an angle. you are right about the speaker, it can be cumbersome for some. not an issue for me as my phone almost always on silence/vibrate or on headset or FM transmitter. So up to individual usage. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jul 6 2012, 11:00 AM) am i correct from looking at the pics, that for 808 black, the camera part is shiny chrome? yes sadly its those in-your-face ah beng-shiny-only-when-new fake chrome that cheapened the look of the pure design (my taste only, does not apply to everyone)..would have bought the black if the whole thing is black, just like the white and red.while for the white and red the camera part is black? or just camera angle different? QUOTE(emino @ Jul 6 2012, 06:59 PM) Gosh. He seems to fall for the Mac's 'we tell you what you need' scheme. You dont need a high res desktop wallpaper on a small screen of laptop. Mac is trying to sell shit and he falls for it the point of the post is not about mac or hires wallpaper, they are just his illustrations. it's about him sharing his experience and realization of the importance of getting a good camera for those who care about preserving good quality photos in their library and not completely rely on the perceived quality from their smartphone's screen. This post has been edited by hox: Jul 6 2012, 08:36 PM |

QUOTE(mxlynn @ Jul 9 2012, 12:01 PM) hi! need some help~ my bro wanted to buy this phone, so im helping him to do some research... 1. all telcos think this phone got no demand, so not even one carry it, not just our country. partly nokia to blame because they have all their eggs in the windows basket.is it available with any telco? going to get it with data plan if possible~ (cheaper also?) what are the pros and cons of this phone? i looked at the first page of this thread, it says smth about the white phone getting yellow? hope that u guys can help me. thanks 2. as a long time iphone/android users, here are my comments after a month owning it: Pros - camera still/video at least 5 years ahead of iPhone 4S - bold and unique design (personal taste) - battery life is good (lasts 1.5-2 days for my usage) - most white phone can turn yellow because of dirt and grease from our hands, but yet to see any yellow or mark on my 808 after few week using naked, now with case, don't think this will be a problem - did i mention camera? - FM transmitter for my car is really useful for me - though looks dated, Belle FP1 is still quite usable, UI is quite smooth, some widgets like the 3G, WIFI, FM transmitter is very handy. - Some apps actually better and faster than those on iOS/Android like SymNote, MeeBible, Gravity. Cons - Apps (or lack of it). Apple's Appstore is like 1 Utama (world's 4th largest shopping mall btw), while Ovi Store is like your Ipoh's old town kedai runcit. If he is a mobile gamer, he'll be severely disappointed. If he is not, there are still some quite good Qt apps (esp. productivity) that helps the transition from iOS/Android easier. Few notable and good apps available for 808 include Gravity, SymNote, SymPaper, MeeBible, ClipBook, Extra Buttons, Notekeeper, WhatsApp, QuickMilk, cuteBox, FastTube, Safe Pro, Vimeo, Nokia Trailers, Toshl, UCount, Podcatcher, Opera. - App installation takes forever even for small 1MB app, crazy. - thick compared to other wafer-thin smartphone. - Built-in browser is unacceptably laggy and clunky, luckily there is Opera. - Keyboard UI design and layout is terrible, buttons size all salah for touch device. Hopefully FP2 will fix it or you can install Swype which doesn't help much. My own personal reasons for owning this phone (doesn't apply to anyone) 1. Symbian very last great device (yeah, i'm that nostalgic type) 2. Camera 3. Tired of seeing every aunties, uncles, relatives, grandparents to 5-years old cousins carrying either iPhone or Samseng Galaxy phones, I want to have something less common This post has been edited by hox: Jul 9 2012, 02:41 PM |

if you would like to use the stock browser as it ties nicely with the google search homescreen widget, tweak the following settings to make it at least 2x faster:
General>Java/Ecma script>Disabled Page>Load content>Images(no flash) Page>Automatic reload>Off |

it's amazing how the camera startup time is so quick whether a cold start or from the background. after a month using it, i still haven't fully explore and experiment the plethora of camera options for different shooting subject and conditions. Next stop will be some waterfall nearby to test out the ND filter.
