Just picked up my i7 today. Got it from Sunway Pyramid. I must say , this is a really sexy lappy. Going to uninstall the bloatwares later and do a clean reinstall. I also upgraded my ram to 8GB for rm100. I havent experienced any of the problems some owners complained about except for the trackpad button not registering the click. I'd recommend an external mouse anyway. Overall i feel this has a touch of class compared to most from similar price range.

guys, i came to lowyat to buy N56
so sad that the new batch, HDD only 750G and 5400 rpm
price around 2600 with 8G RAM free upgrade for I5
*
Differences between i5 and i7 :

i7 -
full HD lcd panel (1920x1080)
1tb hdd
blue ray drive

i5 -
HD lcd panel
750gb hdd
multi dvd drive

and of course the processor. So far thats all i know , at 2600 i think its still a good buy . I heard the new ones are extra rm100 @ 2799

my n56 speaker sound burst when the volume is above 70. is anyone having the same issue??
*
Make sure your audiomaxx program volume is not adjusted to such a high setting. I think that should be your problem. If you're not running audiomaxx and your speakers crack at 70% probably means either faulty speakers or you killed them.

So anyone have probs in this  n56vm after few months using it ??

I made my mind to buy this compared to y580.. Bcause the design is really nice
But i heard the touchpad got some weird sound? The touchpad built was not good and the bad asus warranty which is quite popular now that makes me want to delay a bit..

Just make sure you get an unboxed unit and test everything kao kao before you pay. That's what I did. I don't have any regrets , yet..... I'm using the n56vz-4079

I got my keyboard protector!
Cool because it's so fit with the keyboard,
just still feels the same for the typing smoothness,
it's better than having a piece of 5 bucks silicon but still cannot be the same as naked keyboard.
I'll buying transparent cover skin and a laptop sleeve though, feel so unsafe bringing it out just like that.

Just curious , from which shop did you get the keyboard protector from and how much did it cost? I'm sure quite a few other n56 users would love for you to share ?

Just and update to fellow n56 users. I've been experiencing some freezing everytime I use graphics intensive programs (namely diablo3). At first I suspected overheating but I have managed to pinpoint the source of the problem. I removed my additional 4GB of RAM when I bought the laptop , so now basically it is stock 4GB.

My advice to the others is that if you're opting for an upgrade , try to make sure your RAM modules are matching. Although technically the system should follow the lower spec module in terms of timing , it might still cause an issue.

Model :
Asus N56VZ-4079

Problem : Random freezing with 3D games.
Solved : Removed additional RAM module (non matching pair)

Hope to share this issue , I'm going back to the shop to get a matching pair to test this theory out.

If any other N56 users have problems and would like to share on how to solve , that would be awesome too... Cheers

Ye but unfortunately ASUS told me that for them is perfect, and I bought it in August, so the vendor will not change it.
So as I said, lost 1000 €

It's 2 years international warranty. If your current local distributor cant help you. I suggest you shoot an e-mail to their HQ or Regional HQ detailing your problem and addressing it to their Customer Service Representative.

If still that doesn't get the job done , see if there are any IT fairs in your region and try and attend them , you should be able to find someone who can help you out in person.

I have an i7 n56 which is rock solid , it's picky on RAM modules though , had to scale back to the default 4gb module to avoid crashes.
