Screenshot, we need screenshot of the disk info
Can try this software http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.h...CrystalDiskInfo and post the screen shot.
32bit OS cant see more than 2.2TB of hard drive space, only 64bit OS support more than 2.2TB.

Btw is it u grab the wrong hdd? or wrong hdd in the package sweat.gif

Usual routine before getting startled or fret.
Start->Right click on My Computa->Manage->
Brings out Computa Management.
Click on Device Manager.
Tell us your story from there.
Best is to screenshot if u are unable to describe.

You need 64bit OS - Windows 7, Vista and Linux for 3TB HD.

A good read for you :-

Does the BIOS detect the HDD's proper capacity/size? You can check this: How To Use 3TB Hard Drives On Windows XP. Can also refer to this old thread: Why Windows XP cant support 3TB HDD?. wink.gif

Windows XP cannot address disk space beyond the 2 TB limit. That’s roughly one third of space that cannot be used.

THe only solution for a 3tb Hard Drive to work for windows XP is advance partitioning. Here's the link for the method : http://www.ghacks.net/2010/11/04/how-to-us...-on-windows-xp/

OR, get windows 7 because windows XP is getting old and outdated, extended support for XP is ending soon which means that Microsoft will no longer create updates for it. That means it'll be open to any new exploits and threats once that ends
