Getting Started

|
Hi guys, about to switch my workout routine from bodyweight-only to "LeanGains" style, so effectively a lifting newbie. Now my yoga mat is no longer enough -- I need a weight-room! Seems like for "Starting Strength"-style programs essentially I only need a barbell and a "squat rack". So I'm asking for gym recommendations within a 0-6km radius of Plaza Mont Kiara. I'm gonna be walking or cycling there so no farther than that. Not gonna be that person who sits 2 hours in car traffic to get to a 40-minute workout! Sure I could just walk into the next fancy mall's Fitness First or TrueFitness or whatever glitzy lifestyle gym and sign up for a way overpriced membership. But then, I'm never gonna use their cardio or weight machines, dumbells, saunas or whatever other fancy gadgetry they have. Wondering if there are more affordable "low-fi" kinda backstreet gyms out there in this town? Again, barbells are all I need? Where to go? if u have the budget by all means go for commercial gym. apart from the facilities u just mentioned, they do have pretty decent machines for bodybuilding.
