Im noob and im tracking this. TS, im currently setting all my PC and laptops to automatically retrieve IP address instead of setting the IP address as per your Step 1, Any different made? can i configure the same to the Maxis Thomson router?

Since im on automatic retrieve IP address, i always having this sudden disconnect and reconnect of internet. Sometime even worst when i on and off my modem and router. The modem totally no power no signal. Until the extend now i dare not on off the modem and router. It took me forever to get back the connection. It is related to the Private and public IP address thing? Thanks

I think the problem you encounter is due to the substandard Thomson router or maybe there is some problem with your line, not very sure about this but the Thomson router performance is really bad. It is not related to Private or Public IP thing.

i agree too, connection is slow and Voip like delay 2 seconds only can hear the tone. On off the router still a night mare.

Will too many on off modem or the router will reset the configuration? im a green earth freak, don really like to waste electricity when not in use.

why do you guys say the thomson router is lousy? its been routing my office with over 20 computers on a 32mbps line pretty well.
*
i agree, once i put my notebook cooling pad to it, low down the heat, working pretty well now. Ventilation and cooling is important, just fully utilize the 2 ports for usb lor.

Would not say it's lousy. It's perfectly usable apart from the fact it runs pretty hot, the management interface is slow and confusing, there's a lack of customizability, random hanging, no QoS options and a pretty bandwidth.

Sorry, I just miss my awesome Tomato-powered WRT54GL sad.gif
*
don abuse it, high speed router is always hot hot hot, buy a table mini fan and tap it to its usb port lor.

Hi Maxis

i need help. i just requested maxis to change my old thompson router to this technicolor TG784n v3 maxis router and new BTU set as well from ZTE to this Huawei type since 2 months ago.

but the connection is very unstable. it will drop alot. and i have no idea why.

If compare to the ZTE + Thompson, i seldom facing such drop connection issue.

Its really annoying. streaming jammed half way, surf net suddenly hang, play games sometime lagging, and p2p always not stable.

What is you advise?

should i replace the router to custom type like others here or actually Maxis have better solution?

im not hardcore user but its quite annoying.

pls help, thx

btw, mine is maxis home fiber 10mbps package

I think it's their router issue as I'm having issue with the technicolour router on my ios devices where my ios devices fails to update apps and once I've changed to a 3rd party router then problem solved
