For the voip setting, i think still nid to find out what port/gateway are maxis using only can configure. If can find out and router got Qos function theory should be able set to any Lan port

All these are accessible via telnet.

once you are in the telnet session, just type menu, you will see all the possibilities. The Web UI is stripped/locked down.

Tried again yesterday to enable VoIP with custom router using the RB250GS switch. I managed to get the Thomson to connect to Maxis' VoIP server but it seems the real traffic is carried across the PPPoE interface so I can't actually call or receive...

Looks like it's either fall back to the Thomson or buy a VoIP capable router now...

Did you managed to get a SIP IP from the VOIP server ? Did you configure a DHCP client to get the IP from the VOIP DHCP svr ? From my ethergateway port I can't seem to ping the VOIP DHCP but could do so via Thomson.

You said that it seems real traffic is carried across PPPoE but if that is true, the VOIP phone would not be working until PPPoE connection is established. However, I noticed typically the phone line is working even before internet is on the Thomson. Do you observe the same ? Try rebooting your thomson, you will see the phone line LED light up before the Internet one does.

I set the switch to tag packets coming out of the Thomson to 821 and finally can connect the SIP IP 10.34.xx when the Thomson turns on. So the phone 1&2 lights up. but then i plug my phone into the jack, both also not working. No dial tone, can't call out or call in...

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Im not a computer or tech guy but does a bad router mean bad wi-fi signal?
Is router a different word for a modem?
Or is it something different?

used it for a day, then u realize it's ultra fark'ed dap...

the router gets congested when:-

me torrent (capped at 300kb/s)
my bro (watching pp stream)
my sis (youtubing via ipod touch)
my dad (surfing)

when it's congested, the maxis thomson router gila gila and no internet connection out of a sudden

wifi signal is weak compared to my previous belkin N150 router

from my observation. the router will only gila when i torrent.
my house have more than 5 user. and when i run torrent, the router will get really hot. and it will start gila.
after i put a cooler pad to cool down the router, this problem never happen.

but the wifi signal still sucks. tried to change channel also not improve the signal.
My house is double storey.
even the AP signal (upstairs) which i bridge the thomson router(downstairs) is better when im at ground floor.

After RTFM, I concluded that the most useful feature of this USB port is to hook up a good USB Fan and start spinning lol ... thumbup.gif

Guys,

Can someone help to provide guide step by step on how to configure Alcatel Lucent BTU to output VLAN 621 to port 2 and other VLAN (i.e VOIP) to other port

I have my own router with DD-WRT; however it doesnt really support VLAN tagging

Note Alcatel Lucent only works using command prompt; hence the guide in this page is not gonna work

All ONT's are proprietary ( for now) regardless Huawei or ALU. If you read up on how last mile fiber to the home works, you'll know that provisioning is done by the OLT remotely...so even if you can manually set it temporarily, most probably when you reboot, the setting will be overwritten.
