QUOTE(Frankmiller92 @ Jun 12 2012, 05:59 PM) Sorry to burst your bubble but the one in Times Square is a fake-ass cinema! Don't go the one in Times Square anymore. Care to explain why? Is the sound and picture quality bad?

QUOTE(Frankmiller92 @ Jun 12 2012, 08:46 PM) Ok IMAX is a franchise itself. It has a standardized quality worldwide. The Imax in Sunway would have the same quality as the Imax in Singapore (of course subject to cinema maintenance and stuff). The one in Times Square called "GSCMAXX" is actually a product of GSC where by they blow up the image of the film themselves. Imax movies however goes through a process known as DMR which is done in Hollywood . The one in Times Square USED TO BE an Imax but due to unenthusiastic demand closed down... So instead of wasting a huge auditorium and screen they decided to make one themselves Hope it helps In order to truly enjoy The Dark Knight Rises as the topic started wishes, then he must watch it in IMAX since the director of the film shot 55 minutes of footage with IMAX cameras Oh i see, before it got taken over by GSC, i had a cahnce to watch King Kong(2005) there. That time it was still real IMAX standard right? How about the one at TGV Sunway Pyramid? I think the screen is too small, not IMAX standard, but the picture and sound quality is really good, but I'm still not sure if it's IMAX standard or not

QUOTE(Frankmiller92 @ Jun 12 2012, 08:55 PM) I hate to be a bad news bear but... OK back b4 2005 they were the original IMAX cinemas where they use real 70mm film stock with giant-ass screens. Then the digital revolution came, a new type of IMAX cinema is born the DIGITAL IMAX... or some aptly calls it LIEMAX. Unfortunately the one in Sunway is a LIEMAX (so is the one in SG), thus you felt it being small and all, that said, it's till the best hall in Malaysia, not the one we deserve but the one we need... . There are only a few true IMAX cinema in the world... most in the western hemisphere... YES! the one in Times Square last time was true IMAX standard! Thanks for the info bro Never knew that. So when I saw King Kong last time in 2005, it was already Digital IMAX? When did IMAX at Times Square opened btw? was it late 2004? I remember going to BTS for the first time back in 2004, but the IMAX still in construction.

QUOTE(Frankmiller92 @ Jun 12 2012, 09:02 PM) I know the film Bolt was it's opening film if I'm not mistaken haha. It was shown in 3D so I think it's till a digital IMAX but bigger... Oh well just don't go to the GSCMAXX anymore not that I'm a GSC hater, I just felt they took advantage of consumer's lack of knowledge. Oh bummer, I thought when I saw King Kong it was still real IMAX, I thought I'm one of those lucky one who get to watch real IMAX, since it's so rare now.
