I went to do allignment last week.
The mechanic said my lower arm needs to be changed

He said wheels also need to change. This I agree, it will be reaching the safety line soon.

He mentioned if just change wheels without fixing the lower arm is not good for the tyres.
It will eat the rubber or something

I am planning to change car in 6 to 12 months time.
Is it advisable to change the lower arm?
It cost RM440 per side, so total almost RM900. With a set of tyres, another RM1k...
Very pain...

Additional notes, I'm living in KL and drive to Kuantan every weekend.
Sometimes once in 2 weeks...

I will get new set of tyres definitely, as year end is raining season...
Just wonder if I should get the lower arm changed as well...

Thanks sifu!

just for comparison, Nissan X-Trail T30 lower arm assembly costs RM 600 - 800 each side. it's an aluminum triangle with non-replaceable bushing

u can go ask at spare part shop.

if the bush and/or ball joint is replaceable, maybe don't have to change the whole arm.

I change the lower arm because the left front wheel 'goyang-goyang' - the bearing nut 'longgar'.
and then the right front wheel accidentally 'langgar' stone at the road side until the lower arm bent.
So, have to change, other wise the front wheels keep on shaking when i drive my Kancil.

Bro, I've purchased my strut mount for around 5 weeks only. Payment made on Mar15, Goods delivered and installed on Apr15, the part spoiled on May15.

Kirie auto fella told that no warranty for the goods I've purchased. It's really really bad. Find out warranty term before you purchase

From what i know la. After buy parts form shop can get 1 week warranty only. That is for the time you install drive and run in the part without defect. If you used it for few months and it damaged then could be few reasons.

1: The part is imitation part
2: Some other worn parts causing the new parts to fail
3: Modifications that affect new parts

I have not seen any other automotive parts that offer more than a month warranty. Because i have bought hydraulic brake pumps, alternators, bearings, seals, and a bunch of other parts for my car myself and most of them says to bring back within a week if there are any problems.

But its true. Every time i go to every spare parts shop for parts that are different brand than the one i used to buy, the warranty is usually none. Sometimes they will say 1 week, if got problem send back to change. But the standard is no warranty. Reason is

- Parts could be swapped for defective ones.
- Parts could be used in modified environment.
- Parts are used in extreme conditions not normal conditions.

Thats what i know la from talking to some shops. Mostly its cash carry and wash hand business. sweat.gif

I recently bought a pair of lower control arm from lelong, it's 50% off from market rate. The guy is offering 6 months warranty. According to my friend who running mechanic shop, he said this is genuine part, but didn't issue me any official receipt even I've been reminding the seller.

However, due to the strut mounting failure, I've reinstall my old strut mount to replace this part, and it's already few month running without any issue. Anyway, I'm not trying to criticising, but hope to share my experience in case anyone of you need some review / feedback.

Be sure to check with their warranty before you purchase!

I've also contacted kirie auto again, but no response from their side still.

If you could secure warranty from the lelong guy, then its good for you. But just be wary. Sometimes these sellers, would say 50% off price from original item is a godsend. And they can claim you abuse it and defer from giving warranty. Mechanical parts sometimes its about luck. Yes the better products does costs more and we always try to find the cheapest with best package. But sometimes we do get into bad luck.
