Hi people,

My name is Vijay and I'm working as the Network Administrator with UNHCR. We are an agency under the United Nations dealing with refugee work. I am the focal point for the I.T. unit and am looking for an intern to help me in my daily work. Below are the details :

Organization Type : International Organization / Non-profit Organization
Internship Period : 3-6 months
Remuneration : None, BUT it's a big advantage on your CV to say that you have worked for the United Nations :-)
Field of Work : Network Administration, Hardware/Software Support, etc.
Required Skills / Certification : An undergradute in Computer Science or any related field. Knowledge of MS Windows, Basic PC troubleshooting, Network
hardware and topology essential. Knowledge of Novell Netware and Groupwise is an advantage.

Intern Wanted for I.T. Department

Name of Organization : United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Malaysia
Industry: Non-Profit Organization
Location: KL
Working Days: Monday - Friday
Working Hours: 8 am - 4 pm
Availability: Immediately (Until this post is edited/removed)
Allowance : None (We have limited funding and operate based on donations, so it is difficult)

Job Description:
1. Assist the office in setting standards for applications that meets the needs of the users and supports the overall Information Technology.
2. Monitor and maintain the LAN, Network Servers, Printers, LAN points, Hubs, Patch pane, etc. to prevent faults occurring.
3. Ensure that information problem recovery is done as quickly as possible by making regular system back-ups
4. Assist with the installation of software packages, basic repair/maintenance of all computer hardware in the office and where required implementing partners.
5. Train UNHCR staff on email operation system
6. Add or remove users from the Network
7. Maintain the inventory of IT equipment
8. Perform other duties as required

Requirements:
1. A diploma/degree in Information Technology or related field.
2. Basic knowledge on hardware technical support (servers, printers, desktop computers, laptop)
3. Knowledge in CISCO supported systems is desirable but not mandatory. We use CISCO switches and IP phones in the office.
4. Knowledge in network and e-mail systems (Microsoft Windows 7 & XP, Windows Server 2008/2012, MS Office 2010, Novell Netware & GroupWise, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Outlook, etc)
5. Willing to learn and able to work under pressure

UNHCR provides transport for interns from the between KL Sentral and the office, twice a day (Morning & Evening)
