we can see that the stock has formed a short-term uptrend, with immediate resistance at RM3.00. The RM3.00 is both a psychological resistance as well as the point where the stock gap down shortly after its listing. Astro will attempt to close this gap today or tomorrow.

OSK believes that Astro still has huge room for growth given the low existing pay-TV household penetration rate of 50%, a potential uptick in average revenue per user (ARPU) as subscribers migrate to the HD platform, its superior content, and high entry barriers to the pay-TV industry due to significant economies of scale.

Astro offers new service, Wi-Fi dongle

Astro is offering a free trial from now until January 31, 2013 for a new video-on-demand (VOD) catch-up service, along with the launch of a new product called the Astro Wi-Fi Dongle.

Astro announced today that the free trial of the Astro B.yond VOD Catch-Up Service for B.yond subscribers who purchase the dongle, which adds Wi-Fi Internet access to the Astro B.yond Personal Video Recorder (PVR).

The trial allows subscribers to download and watch shows from channel packages that they have already signed up to, using the dongle to gain access to the show titles in the Astro B.yond VOD library.

Asto is currently selling the Wi-Fi dongle at RM110, or at a special price of RM50 for Super Pack customers with B.yond PVR.
