Don't just look at specs. I suggest you look for support and service as well. Some cheap hosting does not provide you any service. So sometimes when you have problems, you will have tough time trying to solve them if the webhost is not helpful enough.

Narrow down your webhost to a few and then log into their support or customer service to see how they reply questions. It helps to evaluate how good they are.

Also, with such cheap hosting fees, I don't recommend anyone go for free webhosting. These host are very slow and are cluttered with lots of advertisement. Also features are very limited.

Remember 50mb includes webhosting and email. If you keep your emails on the server you won't have enough space. Also, if your site uses mysql, most probably 50mb is not enough. It's only for static webpages.

If you also keep lots of photos, you will definitely need more space. 50mb for me is too little. Go for at least 100mb. But, that's my personal opinion. If you just want to startup and learn something, I guess you will need it cheap. You can always upgrade to higher package anytime.
