Do note that pools is a hazardous to small children. Lots of kids drown because they fell into pools. Have to install some sort of fencing.

Amint, this should be your only concern. Safety! Especially for kids.
If the above is not an issue. You shall just do it.

Having a swimming pool in house is not an issue but its maintenance is a great issue. The average cost of a 19' diameter above ground swimming pool is $6,243; while the average cost of a 32'x16' inground swimming pool is $21,919. A swimming pool needs its maintenance atleast once in a week. The cost of Swimming Pool Maintenance is usually minimal. The time it takes to take care of a pool is more of the issue; especially if it isn't screened and you have a lot of trees. You can get decent service for about $50 a month or self maintain for less.

i wonder, can we just drain out all the water when not in use and then just let it dry?
no? not possible?
or its defeat the purpose of having swimming pool?

Hi Amint,
If you are willing to invest those amounts in swimming pool construction then it will be worth for you. Please note that you will need to spend additional money in swimming pool maintenance. Swimming pool will increase the look and feel of your outdoor living. If you are a regular swimmer then it is better to have your own swimming pool rather than using the one in your friend's home. I have my own swimming pool which I built 6 years ago and it stills looking good. The maintenance services are done by Ferrari pools every year and totally it is really worth for me.

I have a pool and it's one of the best decisions I've made for my family. We spend more time together and now instead of going out, the kids bring their friends over. Construction of a freeform pool is expensive but if you have the budget, It's worth it! There are also other options like fiberglass or liner pools which are cheaper. I know Classic Above Ground Pools in Malaysia offer DIY portable pools. Not sure about maintenance but it shouldn't cost so much.

My pool was done by Aquarius Swimming Pools, they were highly recommended to me and I would do the same too. Super easy to work with smile.gif

Yeah, you know as they say," If you have to ask, you probably couldn't afford it". But I dont really agree. You need to ask to be able to know whether you could afford or not.

Do not be discourage comrade.

For 5500sq ft house you can actually built a decent size pool. Keep it small to reduce maintenance charges (as you can do it yourself) You can use it primarily as a wading pool, to soak in on hot days at the same time you can install a swim jet for swimming excercise. It'w will fit these criterias:
1) Cooling down on hot days with a drink in hand
2) Reasonable installation price (25k-40k depending on size)
3) Can do self maintenance
4) Can also use for swimming excercise with a swim jet (prolly cost anothe 5k-10k)

Trust me as i have done it before not talk only like many others..... wink.gif cheers.

Has anyone tried cheaper above ground pools like intex? The lifecycle of one I'm sure is much more limited, but considering the price difference from getting something built, would it be worth it?
