zzz that means the salesmen cheat me?
But this lens got macro which Nikon don't have?
*
What do you mean by you got cheated? Did he tell you that the sigma was better? In which aspect?? If he said quality wise I think you got cheated..

Macro from sigma actually means closer Distances than the competitors but not much also..very common marketing by sigma and tamron

Maybe the shop is trying to clear their quota for sigma lenses >.<

intended to buy 50 f1.4D for portrait photography...
how is it compare to the 1.8 version? the previous page you all are discussing about it, but its too technical for me la.. >.< can describe in a simpler way which way is better? brows.gif

anyway, go through the nikon site, it seems it dont come with lens cap, lens case and the "lens XXX" dono whats the name, but it use to cover the mouting part with the camera. i know the 50 f1.8g version come with transparent plastic, but not sure for the 1.4 version...
*
The plastic to cover the 50 1.8g is not the transparent plastic like its counter part "d" version

Hehe

Uhh What do you want to shoot mainly?

I just saw the site of Sigma

http://www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/70-300mm-f4...motorized-nikon

Minimum focusing distance of 59 inches & allows macro photography with a maximum magnification of 1 to 2

59 inches is actually 149.86 centimeters

And the Nikon

http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Pro...tTabs-TechSpecs

Minimum Focus Distance 4.6 ft. (1.4m)

It seems the Nikon has shorter minimum focus distance compared to the sigma.. Nikon 1.4m vs 1.49m Sigma

In my opinion I think you should stick to the nikon.. Bare in mind that the Sigma is catered for Full frames.. So in the future if you decided to get a full frame camera your nikon 55-300 cannot be used with it =/

you have to take the physical condition of the body, duration of shooting/event into consideration as well la
tried calvin seak 70-200 2.8 on his D800, definitely more stable, but hand get tired faster as well laugh.gif

btw....my 55-300 when zoom from around 55-250mm the zoom action is smooth, from 250-300 is feel tighter and not smooth feel a bit tight, is it zoom ring got problem? hmm.gif
*
Hahaha yes very heavy but I got use to it already lol doesn't bother me yet hehehe

*
Aiks! Hopefully everything is fine.. Most prob the oil inside dried up? Haha I've no idea just wild guessing!

Where are you from? Maybe you could send to Nikon centre for inspection, hopefully there are parts for it! wink.gif

If you think BTS Nikon centre is expensive you can send to Jason at J-one or Eric in up town I believe they do repairs as well!
