i feel that 1gb on the sgs3 is really not enough. other than the much lower free mem compared to sgs2 (which a lot of "experts" say dont worry becoz unused ram is wasted ram, android knows best etc), there are quite a feel other worrying signs.

- frequent launcher redraws (can be partly solved by edit built.prop or use alt launchers and set them persistent, but android will then look for other app to kill, which bring us to below)

- certain background apps get killed real quick when the phone runs out of mem and tries to reclaim. eg, i have both whatsapp and line installed and several times ppl send me message and i didnt receive. turns out one or both the apps got killed. only when i restart them that the message comes in. btw, on sgs2, these 2 apps were almost always in the background, meaning there were enough memory to go around.

will be interesting to see how the korean-only quadcore/2gb hybrid will perform.

Well, for the Apps well, I sometimes get that problem on Line only. All on different phones so it might be a app bug or something? Sometimes it's the data/connection problem as well, there are times when I feel that the lines are very slow and once I get connected, the messages start to swam in like a group of animals. lol.

For the 2gb hybrid, Korea + Japan only. Well, we'll have to wait for the next few weeks for the reviews on that.

hmm not really. i do agree that line sometimes delay in sending message. whatsapp is generally better. but its 2 different issues. in my example, the app really is killed and disappears from the process list (i've check using apps like elixir, gemini app etc. not just looking at samsung's quite useless task manager), hence it can't even monitor and receive messages until it gets restarted.

btw, i've freeze and disabled quite a few of samsung bloats already..s voice, chat on, all play etc. but there is only minor improvement in free mem. haven't try runnin really serious resource hungry games yet though.

flashed hypergalaxy 0.3. finally gets back some decent ram, now usually around 150mb free compared to previously <100mb.

also flashed LF2 modem, some comments says improved cell standby time compared to our XE8. yet to really notice.

btw, latest siyah kernel supports exFat...so no need to reformat sdxc.. yeah!

Siyah kernel seems to be popular choice of rom developers. Noted all recent new releases of custom roms now comes with it. It is not even official release n still in beta version
Haven't notice any bugs yet on it
*
ya Siyah has good rep. and very active developer. been using his kernels since sgs2 days.
abyss kernel is also quite good but no support for exfat yet. but i think most kernel will soon support because siyah has already cracked it. smile.gif

Wow. Good. Is hypergalaxy released officially yet?
*
already at version 0.3. good for those looking for small footprint and don't mind missing most of the samsung apps.

I use Nova. I disabled practically all Samsung apps as I don't use them. Widgets only Facebook, fancy weather widget, business calendar, battery drain, batterylife, data counter that 's all
I have about 150 apps installed
i find that nova ram usage not really that low despite some people saying its very light. not much difference with go launcher. the only real lightweight launcher i tried is Zeam, but that one really lacking a lot of features.

besides nova seems to have a bit of lag. when exiting another app and go back to homescreen...try to scroll immediately and the screen lags a bit. annoys me..lol. apex has bug on folders, if a lot of apps inside the folder, the scrolling stutters badly.

so finally went back to go launcher ex which everyone says is just good for gingerbread...haha.

apps have to stop every time we boot the phone?
any tools can use to disable/enable permanently?
i just bought the cerberus license as it can track up to 5 devices per license. using it on my wife's tab 7.7 as well
*
you can freeze apps using titanium, once frozen it will stay between boots.

i think there are free apps in play market that can also freeze but i only used titanium so far, so cant comment on their effectiveness.

yeah i also have cerberus, very nice. got it for free during one of its promotions few months ago.
