got my s3 last night. I am using htc Desire before.

How do you guys backup and restore data from old phone to s3? i am more interested to preserve my call log, sms, whatsapp and a few more app data.

my desire is rooted (MIUI) but my s3 is not. any idea?

I have try backup to SD in my desire but when i go to my s3, the same app can't seem to find the backup in the SD.

i found a way around the root.

for sms and call log, i use an apps called super backup. i backup old phone (its on SD). then i manually move the backup file to the same folder on my s3. restore and it works. if yur sms is huge (mine is apporx 1650), it may take some time.... sabar. mine took over 20min.

for whatsapp, i juz copy the entire databases folder files (*.crypt) from my old phone to my s3. i uninstall whataspp and install again. the install again will detect the databases files and ask if you want to restore.

not a smart restore but get the job done.

I used "Backup to Gmail". As the name implies, it can backup your SMS, MMS and call logs to your Gmail account. Then you can restore them to your new phone. No idea how to backup Whatsapp though....
*
here is what i do:
1. install whatsapp on my S3
2. Go to your old phone. Search for the whatsapp folder. In there, there is a folder called databases. there should be a (few) file with extension .crypt.
3. copy all the .crypt file from the old phone to the same folder in S3.
4. Uninstall whatsapp on S3
5. install whatsapp on S3 again.

when u install again, verify yur phone number. after tat whatsapp will recognise u hv backup and asked if you want to restore.

works for me.

It's stated in the first post.

Quoted from Farscope:
go to apps >> more services, then it will lead u to samsung apps, then u will be able to get flipboard there. other apps like S Baro for pressure, My Story (as in GNote) and others are in there.
