My previous question from previous thread still no answer/solution:

One question to macbook / imac user. How you do tethering with SGS3 by USB cable?

Before this, I use SGS 1, I managed to do tethering by USB cable.
*
You cannot on Honeycomb and ICS on ALL android phones ; only Froyo, Gingerbread can the Mac OSX detect your phone through USB cable
I use the app WiFi File Explorer to transfer files between my S3 and iMac /MacBook Air. It is even faster than through USB cable

Polaris apk can download it from post6 of galaxy note official thread
If apk cannot install copy it to /system/app folder n restart phone. You need to be rooted n use root explorer app to copy

QUOTE(T09 @ Jun 11 2012, 02:34 PM)
hi guys, when we press n hold the home button, it wil show a list of apps tat we opened. izit necessary to 'remove all' so that it wont drain the batt? althou the multitask menu showed all the opened apps, bt when i click into task manager, normaly it shows none or the most recent apps in 'active application' list.

n thr r articles out thr advice ppl nt to kill task as it wil also consume the batt n do some harm to the phone, im confuse, any1 can clear my doubts?

tq! smile.gif
*
Don't use task killers
Let android os manage it
Don't even need to look at what is in background
I don't even bother at all about such
Only for paranoid users who think they know better than the os

Anyone tested Antutu Battery app on a root phone yet? Currently using but I need someone that uses it for comparison lol.
*
Rooting will not affect phone performance. It only allow you admin access. It does not change any of the phone performance files

Anyway this is mine on my rooted phone

wow!!!! really?!! crap.. means only way to get super high scores with apps is to root??? darn it..

I already said rooting will not increase improve phone performance
With root you install custom rom or custom kernel that allow overclock you will see improved performanve

But rooting voids the warranty right? New android user here smile.gif
*
Officially warranty is void
But practically most of time samsung service never bother about rooted even flashed phones. Warranty is foc. However they still reserve right to void warranty if so wish
Last week 4 note users had motherboard replace foc on rooted fail flashed phones
My past 5 experience last 3 years claiming warranty on rooted phones foc too

The polaris APK is meant for the G Note and it might not work in the SGS III> I never test it as I used Office Suite in my SGS III.

For those who wish to try, test it by copying it to /system/app - you need root to do this and use ROOT EXPLORER app to do such a copy. Restart phone. If sttill cannot open files, simply means not compatible for the SGS III

Finally we have now a extremely easy to use tool for those who want to root, backup phone, install recovery etc - similar to the Galaxy nexus toolkit this is a NO BRAINER tool. Any guy including a fool will know how to use its well guided menu to do stuffs with his phone
Seriously any user says he do not how to use it ought to be shot as it is like I say a no brainer tool. Just launch the program and tick what you want
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488

What it does :

Install drivers automatically
Backup/Restore a single package or all apps, user data and Internal Storage
Backup your /data/media (virtual SD Card) to your PC for a Full Safe backup of data
Perform a FULL NANDROID Backup of your system via adb and save in Custom Recovery format on your PC
Pull /data and /system folders, compress to a .tar file and save to your PC
Backup/Restore your /efs partition
Dump selected Phone Partitions, compress to a .zip file with md5 and save to your PC
Install BusyBox binary on phone
Root any public build (different options available)
Flash Stock Recovery or CWM Recovery
Flash Insecure Boot Image for adb mode
Install a single apk or multiple apk's to your phone
Push Files from your PC to your phone
Pull Files from your phone to your PC
Set Files Permissions on your phone
Dump selected LogCat buffers to your PC
Dump BugReport to your PC (if installed)

*both SEP at lowyat also need pre-order for blue colour, white no idea
*
So you got f&&K by this FACE seller ?? Maybe he has no stock on hand and did not turn up to meet you
Such seller if he has agreed to meetup with you should at least have the decency to tell you he is unable to come instead of you waiting needlessly for him

from what i read in blackstar custom rom thread in xda forum.
all custom rom does not support exFAT.
correct me if i'm wrong smile.gif
*
Correct. Only the stock rom supports exfat by default
All other custom roms with its changed kernel do not. I have tested this on following roms : omega, Blackstar, Zoom, Hypergalaxy

may i ask your opinion?
currently, which rom is fastest on s3?
last time i only tried cyanogen on my defy  smile.gif
*
Zoom 07 and Hypergalaxy - these are really lean roms. But just read Zoom developer ( he based on hypergalaxy rom ) has decided to stop after 21 June s he will concentrate on USA SGS III model instead
Blackstar I feel is very much better than Omega 4. Did not try Omega 4.1 seems is a lot improved over v4.0
Now downloading v4.1 and just completed restore my rom from Blackstar to Omega 4.0

For those who are using the 64GB sdcard - if you are in habit to flash rom, format your SDcard to Fat32 as these custom roms cannot recognized exFAT. Also each time you do a backup to the ext SDcard, you need to mount it each time. Restoring back any roms need not remounting

Huh....really, i press power+home+volume down button to perform hard reset, it been more than 10 min, can I just take the battery out?
*
That is DOWNLOAD mode. You do hard reset through RECOVERY mode : Vol UP+HOME+POWER . It is vol UP not vol down
Hardreset just take 2-3 mins to complete including reboot
From the recovery menu select wipe data/factory reset and than select reboot

I ALWAYS do a factory reset first on any new phone . I would say is a good practice. Choice up to you
