Just bought my new ipad few days ago...

I've noticed that when my iPad is charging by using the supplied wall charger, the back of the iPad gently vibrates and there is a tingling feeling when touched.

Does anyone know if this is normal behaviour or is there a problem?

Some say "It's caused by the charger not being grounded. If you use a 3-prong adapter, the static charge will go away. It's a phenomenon known as "leakage". "

but the charger provided is 3 pin ... than ??? blink.gif

only electric leak cause that. its can be happen to any electronic device while connected to power plug. its also show that you power plug was not ground well. but to certain extend its not healthy for any electronic device

it's static, not electric leakage. Very common and nothing to worry about.
Try touching the iPad with your bare feet on the ground, there shouldn't be the 'static feeling'

TS described EXACTLY what I went through. After googling I thought it was normal too. Truth is, If the problem persists Ur not sure, do call up a proper electrician to check the wiring.

My case
1. Thought it was "just static/normal" on the MBP, changed to the 3 pin with proper ground=solved.
2. Checked other stuff sometimes usb also got some buzz. Thought it was just THAT outlet. Installed those Belkin multi socket adapters n the red light (on the adaptor itself) lighted up telling me some wiring got prob.
3. Sometimes microwave (different wall plug) also buzzing...
(after nothing happening for a while n using rubber flip flops in the house)
4. Got new iPad, same buzzing feeling still...

What actually happened was the grounding for the whole house gone kaput alredy, so had to redo the whole thing (it's a 30 year old house). After that no more static/buzz whatever smile.gif. Lucky me. So my one advice, if it annoys you, nothing wrong to get Ur wiring checked, u could b saving Ur equipment's lifespan (n yours too). Don't play play with electricity oooooo....

NOTE: don't freak out though, might not be the exact same case for everyone, just sharing my experience n solution

Now that's a bit weird.... Last time for me the buzz was sometimes not happening (for quite a while) n after a while it'll feel the buzz again.

Not sure for ur case though, since u tried another iPad n back. Yeah, understand Ur scenario, troubleshooting n all could drive u bonkers especially if ur not a electrical guy.
