Hi guys,

I've been reading this forum for a good few months now..and finally, thanks to all your talk, i've decided to go for the 2.0, if do proceed. (I think I will). I have some questions I hope you can help...the questions are more targeted towards those who have owned the car for 2 years or more (normally new owners will always be satisfied and have no fault for their beloved car). So the questions are:

1. Do you have any regret at all buying the forte? If yes, what are they?

2. Are there any major issues that are known but cannot be resolved by any of the SCs? I read about torsion beam, start button and rattling noise problems, but can these all normally been resolved easily?

3. Who is the best dealer in the PJ area? I see KSLoh said as being the best - is he really the best?

4. For the dealer you recommended above, what can I expect as freebies normally? ie, free bodykit, tinting, free service vouchers, etc?

Thank you bros...

1) You kidding me? Sure no regrets la come on...this car beats city & vios which are within same price bracket but nowhere near the same amount of features especially on the safety parts - Traction Control, Stability Programmes, etc.

2) Rattling sound depends on luck, even other car manufacturers have headaches solving this not just Naza/Kia SC but i think you have to go to the right one to get your problem solved. However, do remember is a risk that you request them to solve as they will take out and refit those parts, so there's possibility those parts might get scratched or worst - you get more noise..again depends.

Thanks for responding! I had to ask about regrets - maybe some people regret getting the bodykit etc..so may have advised not to get, or maybe some may have experienced big problems. (eg, serious problems with the car, and such).

I'm second to that.. ! which is why I've sold off my Vios couple months ago  tongue.gif
even my Vios last time got kak kak sound at driver's cockpit and "hungry stomach sound" at steering wheel intermittently since brought new until the day I let it go..

Forte is a car which either you love it or hate it.. hate it just because of not-so-desirable KIA badge..
love it because of its arguably one of the best looking economy priced C-Segment, impressive list of features, a competent everyday car which keep most owners happy..

as in the long run.. maybe sifus here with owning 4 speed can comment..

I do have some nit-picking problems with Forte since day 1.. I just need to find the right
SC to solve all those.. and I did, overall my car is in well order till now..
*
Thanks - i guess you are both right, it is all about luck. Sucks sometimes that you get a more mahal car but then rattling dashboard like proton. I hope when i get mine it will be ok.

Actually, i don't think the KIA or even Naza badge is that bad. The overall look of the car makes up for all that.

Can I ask any 2.0 owners, did you downgrade to 16 inch rims and would you recommend I do the same? After reading some of the posts here I'm takut about the increased fuel consumption that due to the 17 inch rims

I would suggest you to keep the stock ones rather you need to fork out extra cash for new
16 inchers with new set of tyres..

my car now clocking apx. 5,070km and my 90% city drive FC improved to avg 8.8liter/100km from max 12liter/100km before 4k km mileage..

i guess the 2.0 with 17 inch rims doesn't cause really bad FC thou..

Thanks again. I'm very excited and looking forward to when i get it.

Hi!
I am too like you b4, getting all the right infos before deciding on the right car.
And bear in mind that I was willing to spend more on a Civic or Mazda 3.

BUT! I finally settled for the 2.0 Forte due to value for money with features. Some may disagree with me.

My Forte is now clocked at less than 2000KM. FC is going down from 12L/100KM to 10.4L/100KM. Im sure it will continue to go down with further mileage and more servicing later.

NO REGRETS!! In fact more joy and fun. 2.0 allows me to easily overtake any car on the road or highways in a hurry. Cornering is most steady and gripping. Engine noise is minimal. Car comfort is very good and feels thick.

ONLY COMPLAIN SO FAR??
Dont opt for Petronas engine oil from branch SC. After my 1st 1K service, the petronas full synthetic oil just turned the car a bit heavy on the pick up. Feels sticky in fact the engine.
I cant wait to change to Shell from authorised dealer SC.
Secondly, the stock tyre is really annoyingly noisy on any roads. But no choice until it wears out later.

Cheers.
*
Thank you for your komen. I read here that the SC won't let you bring your own enjin oil kan?
Anyway i'm a bit of a car newbie so i dun really know how to maintain a car properly and the difference between enjin oils haha.

Anyway, any dealers please pm me your location and number

Yupp..u're right. I'm fall in this category. Prefer comfortable right & better acceleration. So i opted for a lightweight 16" rims with 55 in tire profile. Regarding the FC for my case, for long distance driving with mostly constant speed, the FC is the same from my observation (between 17" & 16" rims). But for mostly town driving with many stop & go situation, my current lightweight 16" rims give better FC than the original 17" rims.

Could i find out how much it costs to downgrade from from 17' to 16' ones? I know it probably varies by dealer, so how much was your downgrade?

Funny, would have thought it would cost less.

Also, is it really THAT uncomfortable to have the 17' wheels? Ie, will your buntut really sakit after being in the car for too long?

Hi Guys,

My forte 1.6sx is going for 1k service next week. Which Service centre has the best record to settle the pull left issue? Also i read there's two option for the engine oil? Petronas and Shell? Which one is better? Thanks for your input.

BTW, I'm loving my Forte!  rclxm9.gif

I really like the koup, gives you a feeling like you are driving a Beemer or something like that at a much lower price.

But kenot la, family man, have to go for four door 2.0 cry.gif

If u prefer a comfortable ride, as like me, downgrading to 16" rims with a tire profile of 55 will do the trick.
Ok, my question is - does 17 inch on the forte make it really the car really uncomfortable?
I can understand if you want to make the car more comfortable by swapping to 16', but is 17' really so bad?

for me its acceptable as long the road condition is not too bad (uneven + small port holes). normally i'll drive slower when going thru bad road.
*
Thanks. I was just afraid if i didn't change the 17' ones that came in the 2.0 that my buntut will sakit each time after driving the car. Which defeats the purpose of getting a fairly good car in the first place.

If its acceptable then i guess like you i will just drive slower la. I'm a slow driver to start with anyway.

lol its based on individual preferences that maybe my tolerance is higher? but u can go ask for test drive and feel it?
*
I know, i will test drive before i buy la, just that some dealers seem to only have the 1.6 versions for test drive.
My only comparison at the moment is a 10 years old proton wira.
As long as a kia Forte 2.0 with 17 inch rims is more comfortable than my old car, then can la...haha

If you are comparing with a 10 year old Wira, then I think the chance of Forte being more comfortable should be fairly high.... isn't it? hmm.gif

I would think so la...but then, you'll never know..haha

Dear guys,

I'm in a dilemma whether to buy forte 2.0sx or the new hyundai elantra 1.8..I really need ur opinion asap.

Appreciate ur opinions :-)
*
I don't own either (active on forum now because i'm looking at the 2.0 Forte), so may not be the best opinion - but my preference mostly based on price and safety:

Forte 2.0: 97K, 6 Airbags
Elantra 1.8: 115K (?), 2 Airbags

I'm going for the Forte. Looks wise, the Elantra looks nicer than the 2.0 but the Forte Koup looks best...if you had money for the elantra why dont you buy the Forte Koup? Best of both worlds brows.gif

Thank u for the reply guys ;-)
The reason why looking fwd for forte 2.0 rather than koup is bcos I've just had a baby girl and me and husband are looking for an affordable long distance car to go back to kelantan for raya this year ;-) hope it'll b comfortable for the 3 of us..
*

[/quote]

Hey, given you have a baby girl i have to take back what i said about choosing the forte 2.0 because of the 6 airbags feature. This being the case maybe you should choose the elantra or the 1.6 variant of the forte.

Reason: If your baby girl is going to be at the back seat then maybe side airbags is not a good thing and even dangerous. I read somewhere that airbags for rear passenger not good if its going to be a baby seated there.

So yeah, since you mentioned this information about your baby girl maybe get a car without airbags behind. Anyway don't take my word for it, , you should think about the presence of side airbags and whether its advisable if you have young kids.

I want to make sure you get this message so i'll also PM you this...

Edit: Though if you get 6 airbags maybe there is a way you can configure the car to disable the rear airbags when your child is in it...as I said, i don't own the car so my opinion shouldn't count for much.

OK...here is another question for those owning the car for 3+ years. Have there been any major reliability issues with the forte? Eg, Car stall, overheat, etc?

I'm sure given the response to my earlier question there are non e, but asking just the same. Anyone car to share if there are reliability problems especially after 3+ years?

One thing to watch out for while testing demo cars - some of those cars might have their tyre pressures pumped too high. Many car dealers tend to pump extra air into the tyres so that they look good in the showroom.

Mine had 38PSI in each tyre when I test drove it, and it was still kept at 38PSI when I collected it (yes, I tested my own car before buying it instead of a demo unit).
No. Mine's probably the oldest 2.0L here (2009 model, albeit Australian spec) and thankfully there hasn't been any major faults so far. No mechanical failure, or significant electronic issues that could potentially stall the car.

Minor faults include:
1. Rattling front passenger seat - sorted during my first service and never recurred.
2. Loose reading lamp switch - fixed FOC as under warranty
3. Intermittent dashboard rattles - sadly, no one could really fix this as every time I bring it for service the mechanics couldn't figure it out.
4. Console unable to read mp3 files from USB drive - only happened twice, but problem solved when I restarted the car.
*
Thanks - those are minor things compared to enjin stall/kenot start/overheat etc.

Everything seems positive for me getting my forte. I probably will get it soon.

This really shouldn't be happening in a "premium" car that costs RM 80K - i would expect something like this to happen only in Protons, and even that, only older models.

Does Naza know anything about this and have they released any information about resolving this issue?
Surely if the car is under warranty you can get the Naza SC's to fix it.
