Can I ask any 2.0 owners, did you downgrade to 16 inch rims and would you recommend I do the same? After reading some of the posts here I'm takut about the increased fuel consumption that due to the 17 inch rims
No need. Most people downsize their rims to get a thicker one (50 or 55 instead of the stock 45) for a relatively more comfortable ride. However some do downsize for lighter rims for slight improvement in acceleration.
Generally speaking, FC depends on your right foot. If you use smaller rims but still floor the pedal like a madman, the FC will still skyrocket.

anyone experience the VSA activated before? This morning when I on the way came to work, there was a puddle of water on the road and I didn't take note on it and continue with the same speed; maybe 80km/h.
when I drove across the puddle, the car suddenly like braking itself and slow down for a second. Is this considered VSA activated? I didn't notice whether the VSA light got on or not.
This is new experience for me as last time I felt differently on my myvi where one side of my car will be floating in the air if I drive across such puddle.
When your tyres lose grip, the ESP comes on. And yes, it does occur in puddles especially if you're accelerating through it and hydroplaning. when I drove across the puddle, the car suddenly like braking itself and slow down for a second. Try this on a rainy day. When you're at a complete halt at a set of traffic lights, get ready to floor the gas. Once the lights turn green, quickly depress the gas pedal at least 50% (or even more if you dare). The front wheels will lose grip and start hydroplaning sideways and the ESP light will blink for a few seconds as it attempts to straighten the car by cutting power to the wheels.
You can also make the ESP blink by turning into corners swiftly but this is way too dangerous to try it on normal roads.
