Newly upgraded Havoline. Filter some info from Paul Tan

The Caltex Havoline with Deposit Shield engine oil range, which includes the Havoline Fully Synthetic, Havoline Synthetic Blend and Havoline Formula, has been upgraded to API SN, the highest performance standard set by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to date.

According to Caltex, Havoline Synthetic Blend SAE 10W-40 goes beyond what is required of API SN and provides 30% more protection from corrosion and 30% better wear protection. The same oil is also 70% better at wear protection in extreme driving conditions, improving oil stability and increasing durability.

The by-products of combustion and breakdown of oil over time can change the oil viscosity, potentially causing poorer fuel economy. Caltex says that Havoline Synthetic Blend SAE 10W-40 is 55% better at retaining viscosity under harsh conditions.

Better than Liqui-Moly which is SL grade.

Technically no, but commercially, better API grade indicate the improved standard that usually translate to better market position that translate to better pricing by a commercial company. At least that is my understanding based on some recent newly release SN graded lubes promoted by lube companies as premium lube = higher pricing.

The new Edge Titanium, is the price different from old Edge? Anyone can confirm?

Since the entire Havoline range were upgraded to SN, hopefully no price increase. Last time I notice, Eneos release its SN grade lube with higher pricing as a slightly different range instead of replacing its existing SM range. That imprint into my mind SN rated lube usually higher pricing than existing SM. Times might change with SN being more common liao, so SM was phase out with no price increase, thats what I hope for now.
