hey guys, anybody can give some advise about which 1 to choose fz20,fz30,fz5 or D50. im kinda in a dillema here, i dont know which 1 to choose from. Coz i read a review in dpreview.com regarding the fz30 produces alot of noise at ISO 400 and there are not many improvements from its precedessor(fz 20) and the image quality improvement is not significant.

my main of purpose buying one of this camera is bcoz it has
1.12xoptical zoom
2. image stabilizer
3.size of the camera is not big

i like to travel around and like to shoot night scenes like fireworks, building architecture, indoor low-light conditions.Any other option bside fz(less expensive 1)...do keep in mind i prefer the digi cam not too bulky.

thanks yah..

please remember that if you buy a DSLR,you will need to spend another RM5000-20,000 or more for lens and accessories.

if you want to travel alot and don't want bulky cameras,go for compact cams...DLSR is a NO for you

i still say go for the D50. or if u are worried that you will suddenly lose interest, get a 2d hand film slr since film stuff dont depreciate in value as quickly as digital bodies (that way u can sell it off at around the same price u got it for!)

can't he just stick with the kit lens and built in flash for few years than upgrade it if he want to or when he reach pro level ?

Compare with prosumer at least there will be space for upgrading right ? Basically i believe he can take good photo and survive without any addition investment, just my 2cents.

of cos unless he is the type that cannot control himself and go on buying sphere automatically until he is pokai than just get a compact cam. For a beginner just dun blame the lens if u can't take good photo.

yesterday i wen to this shop called key color in mid valley. The d50 kit alone is rm2800 and if buy package is rm3199. which include:
1GB SD Card
Large nikon camera bag
Small camera case
Screen protector
Tripod
Additional compatible 3rd party battery

however since my mom is sponsoring..she is not in favor of the 2 camera bags and the tripod bcoz i have a backpack(quite large) and the tripod not really necessary. but the seller said cant seperate all the accesories bcoz all come in 1 package. wht i want to know is it is necessary to buy the camera bags? the tripod dont know is it good quality or not. eh how much does a normal quality tripod cost?

haha i will only use the kit lens 1st, try to experiment it, if i cant get a good picture from the kit lens tht means i still have a lot to learn, me have2 understand the limitation of the camera and fully utilise all the funcstions from the cam.Along the way, i might know wht lens i needed most and buy tht lens, i wont simply buy loads of lens, in the end still cant get good pics or not using them at all sweat.gif !! so step by step ler... thumbup.gif so hopefully all the LY sifus might help me improve or give suggestion on how to improve my skills yah thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

well...if you buy D50,i can recommend you my friend's shop in Sg Wang to you smile.gif

D50 kit lens sux to the max
i used to own D50 and D70s together now moving forward to D2x

18-55 is having limitation...since it is not and IF lens, you will find that it is not that nice smile.gif and the aperture rate is not good. when you hit 55mm...you pics will have slightly soft and not sharp.

the basic lens you need is a prime lens, wide angle lens for lanscape and tele-zoom lens for indoor and outdoor shoot out

the lens is a necessary!!! smile.gif

if you want to know more...i can teach you more wink.gif

well the camera bags and the tripods will definitely be the cheapo variety. a good tripod is a must (a decent manfrotto legs+head should be around RM400+). camera bags i generally find not so important, not with the amount of gear u are beginning with. fyi, i just dump my cameras into a backpack...and chuck the flash in too. tongue.gif
