hello fellow rx100 users! I wonder if rx100 can share my samsung phone charger, since both my rx100 n samsung galaxy S2 are using the same mini USB port. Please advice thanks!

Check if the output voltage is the same, if yes then 'should' be fine. hmm.gif
Thinking to get a RX100 for truly portable camera.

NEX is small, still. shakehead.gif

RAW output is pretty good. smile.gif
Btw the IS/VR/whatever works good? Your SS are quite low for shots above.

AWB are as realiable as they go.  Not 100% foolproof but what is?

Another snapshot but my 60D can't do this. sad.gif

Hi to all Sifus here,

I am a totally camera newbie. Have no clue how to use ISO, apertures, etc but would like to get started.

At first I thought I wanted to get a Sony NEX F3 (the most basic model) since it is less intimidating than a full DSLR and also it has a flip LCD screen for self shots. But then I saw the post you nice folks were sharing about the RX100. It's really compact and can even do the blur effect (not sure what is the right term) of a DSLR which I wanted.

Question I have is:

1. Is the picture quality of the RX100 better than the NEX F3?
2. Can the RX100 batteries be changable since I read that it runs out after about 200 shots? Don't want to be stuck having to charge it again then only can use hours later.
3. Can the RX100 be sufficient to replace the E Mount lenses since it is not changable? (I know this might be a silly question but maybe the RX100 might have some "amazing" lens built in. lol)

Thanks for taking the time! Hope to see more excellent pictures taken with the RX100! smile.gif

muffdiver <--- LOL

Anyway, the replies as below:

1) Yes.

2) Yes.

3) No, it CANNOT replace the various e mount lenses but RX100 lens is an excellent one given its specs.

A little correction, NEX-F3 is an APS-C sensor camera while RX100 is just 1'.
There's no way the RX100 is better if they have the same lens.

F3 is better anytime anyday.
It may seems like RX100 > F3 image quality because NEX series lacks good lens.

^ The Zeiss label on the RX100 ain't for nothing after all. laugh.gif
If compare with the NEX kit lens probably RX100 will be better.

Put on a similar grade lens and APS-C sensor will shine.

On a side note, still waiting 'clearance' to buy my RX100 doh.gif sad.gif

Am currently hesitating between RX100 and LX7.
The 1.4-2.3 Leica lens sure caught my eyes.

Summore the LX7 is cheaper by like 500-600 bucks.
Tarak tempat got LX7 let me play play sad.gif

btw sniper, consider this scenario for both your XZ-1 and RX100,
Both at their optimum aperture and base ISO.

Now does the detail/sharpness differ alot?

I understand you dilemma as it took me months to decide too.

..
For me, I shoot RAW (so not taking into account the jpeg engine) and archive all my photos at 1920 resolution.
..
RX100 also recovers highlight and shadow A LOT better.. even better than my 60D's output.

*
Yup I also shoot raw but I store them at 2560 though. laugh.gif

Alright the highlight and shadow retention is enough to convince me. icon_rolleyes.gif
