Well it depends on what you use it for. If you "check-in" all the time or use the maps all the time, you'll need it on for a better reading but if not, don't need to on it. Lol.

if the app is map or navigate than yes...need gps,but for daily use..not so much.cause gps need to calibrate each time you change position so suck up battery power

when an application is using your gps (i.e. sucking up power) the phone will inform u thru the notification bar at  the top. is like a circle with a solid circle within. so one glance u know the state of your gps. for me, i leave gps on all the time. but only when i run an app that needs gps is when the sucking of power begins. so i can control the gps by controlling the apps i run. i prefer that way.

yes. no probs. a good gps app for drivers is waze. try it before u upgrade to the more other paid services.

Buy five or six spare battery la..easy..then you can use your phone forever and ever...    o_O

i using 5200mah, can actually charge my galaxy s phone 3-4 times ( i only tried twice and still got half, so i assume can go up to 3-4 times). i guess should be enough for 1-2 times for s3
