hello everyone
newbie collector here - i would like to ask fellow collectors on how you take care of your figures, especially the leather/fake leather/vinyl parts?
i collect only kamen rider and this poses a significant problem as the entire figure is enclosed in the leather/vinyl suit.

i have been reading conflicting tips so far and even on toyhaven , he is also facing the same problem on many of his kits

All my medicom riders are not more than 5yrs old. i do have one unit that have been sealed for 5 years, i will go back and check tonight if there are any damage .

one good tip that i picked up from the toyhaven post is - wash your hands before handling your toys! i always forget this important rule.

wow firebat - i really like your cabinet == is it custom made ?
may i know if rows 2 and 3 - are those all medicom ?

and i noticed that you have light shining on the top row of toys - no fear of damage to your kits ?

maybe when i complete my 1/6 kamen riders that i want, i can start collecting kamen rider masks 1:1 scale.....

yes it is custom..too bad it made the glass layer unadjustable...so i have to took out the glass between each level to put my 1/6....maybe later will diy too make it adjustable too a suitable level each of them.....those light are actually celling light some distance away cabinet..yup,the light produce some heat..i put my hands near it to test..not really that hot..my cabinet remain cooling tempareture thought.1st,2nd,3rd row are medicoms riders smile.gif ...

1:1 scale is quite a heavy funding..and it cost alot of space too..owning 1 currently.. shocking.gif

This problem not just toys many stuff also face same problem after few years. Like shoes & handbags, belts, even steering wheels also have this problem.

For medicom rubber tight suit not much you can do as they are very sensitive to other stuffs, best is keep it cool & not too dry, not too wet dust free places.

For leather suits, those you touch can feel thicker ones, you can buy transparent color leather shoe polisher or handbag polisher and apply to the surface with fibre cloth. This will coat the leather with a layer of protection, but will make the surface shinny. Then keep it in cool & not too wet/dry dust free place.

If you don't want the shinny effect the only way is to keep it in cool dust free place.

Also keep it away from oily hands etc. If you have to clean just use fibre damp cloth.

For the already spoiled rider suit, you can order customs one from Hong Kong, or you can get those cloth suit from other kits and replace. Female version should fit the smaller medicoms nicer, or you can get those cheap old RAH shocker soldiers and use their cloth tight suit.

The only difference between shoes, bags, belts are they are not marketed as collectibles + limited edition most of the time. And there is the expected wear n tear unlike display units

"No Limited Edition" ke?

Most toys are not limited edition also.

Same material what you expect? The profit margin for branded bags are even higher so they can afford better quality.
