Hey guys, wassup. Want to change from Celcom Portawifi to Maxis portawifi-like LTE usb modem.

My 1yr Celcom Portawifi contract will end next month in February, and for the past <1yr the service has been good (as usual the first few months at 9Mbps) to worse (2Mbps the next month all the way till now), no where nearing the 21Mpbs advertised speed. Surprisingly my Nokia Lumia 1020 with celcom can get up to 30Mbps (refer sig below), wth?

FYI, i'm staying in Seksyen 7, Shah Alam.. and the celcom coverage here is just ok. I understand that speeds at peak hours at not that satisfactory, but i can't deal with 'just ok' at rm68 monthly.

Any Maxis LTE users in Seksyen 7 Shah Alam? What's the coverage and speed like? Want to change since my portawifi cant get the LTE speed whereas my phone can, BARELY at 2 bars.

75+ Mbps is awesome bro! Wanna speedtest there when I have the chance. Anyway, Subang Jaya SS15 still not as speedy as ur place.. ~30Mbps as per my sig.. but still fast enough to watch and dload etc

Speedtest done yesterday at (inside) Celcom Blue Cube, Sunway Pyramid.

I expected that too LOL.. and yes, it dropped to somewhere ~50Mbps despite it's just a few feet seperated from where I did the 1st test

Same, but can't remember since when The good thing abt this old Exec plans, celcom will never cut-off our calls nor data even when the max usage has been reached. For exceeded calls, it will be billed extra.. and for data, the speed will be capped/slowed down. All these new First plans however cut-off if not mistaken..

Using the same old number, however I changed the old exec pay-per-use data plan (which is extremely expensive) to the new rm38/month data plan (1gb if not mistaken). So monthly, i will roughly pay rm50/month exec voice plan + rm38/month 1gbdata plan = rm88~ monthly, never exceeds rm100, unless i topup the data volume..

Try a diff sever? I always try the maxis server, it always give me the fastest results compared to others, even when i tested in celcom blue cube previously hehe..

Same goes to wife's celcom prepaid. Using iphone5s, lte enabled, lte sms activated, but not getting lte speed due to package. must get the min required data package (rm38/month 1gb data), then only can utilize the lte speed.

Where is ur location, bro? Seems good even not covered Have u tested during off peak hours?

No wonder la lte hiccup lately anyway that speedtest done exactly inside sunway's celcom blue cube centre

Can someone tell me which is a good 4G LTE modem? And price range?

I want to replace my Celcom's Portawifi USB modem since it doesn't support 4G LTE speed. (As claimed by Celcom CS HERE)

Netgear and Sierra same brand? Coz found sierra brand on lelong/lowyat, cant find netgear.

Anyway, was thinking of something like portawifi.. Usb modem type. Any ideas/suggestions?

That's good. Wish I could say the same for Kedah's (hometown) celcom. Right in the middle of the Alor Setar town, in front of the Celcom building, still not getting LTE despite sim activated and phone in LTE mode. But i believe maxis is doing well there.

I'm also in the same boat as you, will get the E3276 later end of this month and do some tests later.

Exactly. U'll only get the speed (refer my sig) only when ure exactly at the origin. Outside, ure lucky if u got 50% of promised speed.

Where are u located? Imo sunway has the best 4g celcom coverage (refer sig)
